@@NLLObStEr It is a gray area. All non-alcoholic beers will contain trace amounts of alcohol. However, the alcohol content is usually less than 0.5%. So I am confident that I've been sober for more than a year. If someone wanted to argue that I haven't really since I've consumed non-alcoholic beers, I wouldn't disagree. But consider this: a burger bun contains more alcohol than non-alcoholic beer.

I have a friend at work who was an alcoholic for many many years and he has been sober 15-20 years he drinks non alcoholic beer because he likes the taste of beer.

We had a work buddy who didn't drink alcohol for religious reasons, and when we would go out and play golf, we let him try the Heineken 0.0 since technically it didn't have any in it, he liked it well enough he would drink one or two with us, while we drank our beer. So it is a way for some people to not feel left out when they are hanging out with their buddies, and it seems good for that purpose, among what ever other reason you may have.

I've tried a little bit of hop water and they're also pretty good. Hops don't make alcohol either way since they're basically flavoring plants. I'd even argue N/A beer is a bit better than reaching for sugary soda w/ a meal besides a glass of unsweetened iced tea or arnold palmer.

For those that actually wonder and if not already stated. The first non-alcoholic beer was invented in the United States in 1919 by Pabsts’ Pablo and Anheuser-Busch’s Bevo as Prohibition which was dark days for the US started. However, the rise of modern non-alcoholic beers began in the 1970s. Spanish brewery Ambar launched a non-alcoholic beer called Ambar Sin in 1976, and the famous German non-alcoholic beer Clausthaler was launched in 1979.

My buddy was a, drink until you black out, drinker. Had a life altering event, and now drinks NA beer. He says it satisfies his cravings without him being a degenerate. I guess that’s one reason?

Honestly. I went sober due to an issue during covid where i was getting blackout drunk 5 to 6 days a week, i love the taste of beer so i drink budweiser 0.0 simply for the taste.

Why I buy non-alcoholic beer: I like the taste of beer, and I find it refreshing; however, I'm on several medications that don't mix well with alcohol. I also like it so much that I REALLY like to drink it, and alcoholism runs in the family, so I try to be careful. These let me enjoy something close to what I like.

People buy them because they could be recovering alcoholics that still want the taste of beer without the risk. Also non alcoholic beers are safer to drink for people who take medications that can have adverse effects when mixed with alcohol.

I drink NA beer when I do no drink dry month. Usually do that 2x a year. Usually February and August. Technically it's not 100% dry since NA beer has a small amount of alcohol but it's close enough for government work. My brother died of alcoholism and February is his birth month and August is when he died. It's in memory of him but also bc I enjoy 2 breaks a year from alcohol. I also like to drink NA at company parties while everyone else gets drunk and acts stupid as well as when I'm going to be the designated driver. Best NA beers are, in order best to still drinkable are corona (best for summer imo), dos XX lime zero (good for summer as well), samuel Adams ipa (least bitter on the back end of all NA ipas) & golden (also good for summer), shiner rode0 (they got 3 types now one only had the blue can but will try brown and white this week), Guinness is decent, best for fall and winter imo. Haven't had odouls or Sierra Nevada though. Karbach free & easy ipa/belgian are decent. Athletic has 2 ipas and a golden. They are OK but bottom of the pack of drinkable ones. The worst is bud zero and Heineken but you might like Heineken NA if you regularly drink Heineken though. Partake hefeweizen was absolutely disgusting! So won't try anything from them ever again. One last thing I sometimes drink NA beer after drinking a few whiskeys. Keeps the night going but definitely cuts down on hangovers! Cheers!

I'm with ya on the non alcoholic beers!!! In the Marine Corps, you get deployed to countries that don't allow alcohol and this was the best we could get at times. Other than that reason, I wouldn't know why someone would want these

The reason why I drink the NA beers is because I like the regular beer but my ulcers flare up when I drink the regular beer. The NA is the only ones that don’t make them flare up.

I am easing out of alcohol temporarily bc it was getting out of hand, this lets me still drink something when I want a beer - until I decide to drink real beer again. The other thing it would do for me is drink one of these between alcohol beers and that will be less drunk , less hangover and healthier.

My wife and I drink non alcoholic beer because of health issues with me, we don't believe in full alcoholic beverages because of what it did to our friends and family and our personal beliefs. Plus we like this stuff. We have found some a lot better than others. My wife and I have even done videos doing reviews on non alcoholic beer.

I had to drink them for a few years due to treatment of a health condition. It was tough but there were few NA’s that weren’t too bad. For someone who loves beer it was nice to have something that was reasonably close. Good luck to anybody who has to drink these.

I ordered Einstok White Ale and Einstok Arctic Lager. The White Ale didn’t last long. I finished it really quick. Excellent beer. Arctic Lager has a heavy hops flavor.

To answer your question, I don't buy NA beer regularly. For a long time I never did at all, because I don't crave it enough to settle for something mediocre, or worse. I don't like alcohol and so I just stopped drinking, but I used to love the complex flavor of craft brews-especially IPAs-and would enjoy trying a variety of them. Now, every once in a while I'll get an Athletic Free Wave just for the flavor throwback, since it actually tastes like a quality IPA with a nice hop profile, and has less "emptiness" and no weird aftertaste compared to other NA beers.

When I'm at a gathering away from home, I generally have to drive. Four beers is about all I want to drink, and if I alternate regular and non-alcoholic, I've only drank two beers for the day (4 to 6 hrs.) and I'm fine to drive home.

N/A beer use to be called 'near beer' and was intended for younger people. Teens mostly. Before that, when water was considered toxic, everyone drank beer. Adults drank a big beer Kids and poor people drank 'small beer' the small beer was made by reusing the original grains to brew. It made for a low alcohol (less than 1%) and lighter flavored drink.

In ohio you only have to be 18 to buy these. Odouls Amber is my favorite. I drink them bc I can't have sugar or caffeine after a certain time and diet soda is gross. I discovered NA beer is just their regular beer that has been boiled and re carbonated

I don’t drink at home or at restaurants anymore and only drink beer at a brewery. I was having issues with alcohol and alcoholism runs rampant in my family. I think there’s close to 7 alcohol related deaths. I’m in antidepressants now and don’t like mixing them for obvious reasons. Right now I’m recovering from a work injury and on a few more medications so don’t want to mix. Na beer is a life saver for me so I can have my beers and none of the risks. I rarely drink these days. It’s been almost a month since my last drink.

I’ve found that except for Bush NA and Odouls, that many non-alcoholic beers have a metallic after taste. Sam Adam’s makes a nonalcoholic IPA that does a good job of covering up that flavor, but I don’t like IPA’s. If you like a lot of hops you should give it a try though.

A family member would drink a 6pack of the Australian version of these before driving to work. "I get the taste and I get to work without killing someone." Then he would come home and have a 3pack of long neck heavies. Then he would polish off a bunch of homebrew on the weekend... I guess that's where I got it from.

you can buy non alcoholic beer under 21 in Wisconsin. You live in Alabama, were literally up until a couple years ago, draft beer was illegal. I grew up in Greenhill (Florence ala area) right on the state line, and the ABC officer would sit on highway 43 and watch for people buying kegs at the gas stations on the state line, just to stop and ticket them.

Use to be a "beer" back in the early 60s called Near Beer, in a white can, too far back for me to remember the graphics or who made it, probably National Bo. Grocery store didn't have it with the real beer, on a shelf, hot. Gotta be hard core to drink none alcohol brew hot 🔥

Skunk smell comes from beer in clear and green bottles being left in sunlight. The hops are light sensitive and will react with the light to create a similar compound that is actually found in skunk spray. Hence why it smells skunky.

Back in 98 my Army unit went to Bosnia. There was a "bar" on our camp where you could get near beer. I have no idea the actual brand name, but that's what we called it. It's against military law to drink alcohol while deployed. However my battery spent a weekend road marching with Germans. So we spent the weekend on a French, Russian and German base. This base/camp had 40, i repeat 40 bars. We got lucky and our officers and nco's allowed us to drink. However the scouts fucked it up, cause they came back to the barracks yellin' and screaming and throwing their guts up everywhere. We did not get to drink the rest of the weekend. Bastards.

I actually do buy these and I buy the Heineken the Corona or Budweiser zero. due to Heart failure I had to give up the Alcohol as much as possible and love the taste of beer so had to compromise so I could enjoy life longer
