Growing up in Michigan, we loved Alabama's music. Their blue collar roots and rural America centered lyrics spoke to an entire generation all across the country. I'm thankful for KZbin to be able to re-vist these moments in time. I can still recite so many of their songs lyrics even 40 years later. Sad to read of Jeff Cooks passing. I hope he and the rest of the band recognized the profound impact they had on so many.

No cell phones when you talked to your woman it wasn’t words written on a screen, it was pick up the rotary dial phone call your girlfriend, “Hey SugarPuddin’ be there at 6:00 Friday night, I love you too, later.” Hang the phone up, and if you forgot something you’d call back. There were no school shootings even though you would see pickups with guns in the gun rack during hunting season. I’ve seen guns traded in the school parking lot. If you had an issue with someone you met at the trees and fought it out and 9 times out of 10 you were sitting around a bon fire drinking a beer with them on Friday night. God I miss the 80’s.

This is how the country looked when I was growing up. The cars and trucks, how they're dressed, that back road with the sun setting behind the trees, the old homes especially the one with all the chairs on the front porch and a clothes line out back, the tractor, the old store, even the saw mill. Absolutely love that the Tennessee Vols played this Alabama song tonight after the FG win over Alabama Roll Tide... In Tennessee... On a Saturday night... How ironic🤣🤣🤣..... Just seemed so extra special tonight after such a tough game for both sides. What a way to take this song back to Tennessee where it belongs.
