I Feel Ritchie wanted to give him a different approach. He didn't want Jafar to be this arrogant paranormal evil mastermind, and tried to picture him as an ambitious evil mirror of Aladdin. Tbh chris, the original Aladdin was mostly memorable because of the original genie as well
@antiseth39645 жыл бұрын
That's a good point, but the other characters in the animated film weren't walking planks of wood either. The animation, voice acting, and musical numbers gave them the freedom to create very emotive characters and memorable moments that stood apart from the Genie. I'll be honest, I haven't seen this new one yet and probably will not. I lump Guy Ritchie in with Baz Luhrmann (and almost Tim Burton nowadays too) as directors who specialize in overstylized gaudy films with little true substance. I'm really hoping that the live-action Mulan has a little more character to it, but overall there is little more to my perception of Disney making these live action films than cash grabs and reclaiming of intellectual property.

Fear and intimidation really helped a lot in making Will Smith deliver the best performance as the Genie, but he can't replace Robin Williams as Genie. @SAsaiyajin5 жыл бұрын
@@alanquartey5539 yeah it was fun, the only thing that bothered me was that Jafar didnt turn into a Snake though Aladdin fighting a giant Cobra with a sword might be a bit to super heroish😂😂😂. A second movie would be nice though the songs in the other 2 movies aren't really that good. They could take an example from the animated series, it didnt had songs and was more based on adventure, action and fantasy. That might work for a second movie.

I was very entertained and it didn't feel like 2 hours to me. I also went to the movie with the idea that I wasn't going to try to compare it to the animated version (which it's very hard to not make comparisons). I wanted to see how this stood up alone as its own movie. And on its own, it's a pretty good movie. My wife and daughter, who has seen the animated version about a half dozen times or more (in the last 6 months, and a few dozen times in the last 2 years) loved the movie and have been playing songs from it daily. I know that a DVD of the movie will be finding its way into the house the moment they see it on a store shelf.

I agree! That Blockbuster shirt is really cool! Nice way to pay homage to a classic video rental store since it's basically just a relic of the '90s now. Really cool seeing it featured in the Captain Marvel movie when her ship crashes into it. That was funny! I never rented movies or videogames from there. I usually went to either The Wherehouse or Hollywood Video but I saw lots of Blockbuster commercials growing up and there were some Blockbuster stores near my house too when I was a kid during that era in time. I think with services like Hulu and Netflix renting movies from an actual store building will be a thing of the past now which is kind of sad because ordering pizza and then going to the video rental store to rent the latest releases or Sega Genesis and Nintendo 64 video games were such cool experiences from my childhood that I really miss. =)

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but as a movie critic, you should consider the genre. It’s a children’s movie mixed with broadway musical. Compared to Indiana Jones or Les Miserables, the props are ridiculous, yes? Watch it next to Hairspray or Chicago and it won’t seem so flashy. The focus was the ethics in the story. The Aladdin in this was charming and generous many would agree. Jafar could’ve been a bigger threat but his character is a “tool.” Long story short, it was amazing for what it was and the modern genre it depicted.

as someone who LOVED The original animated Aladdin I'd actually liked the live action Aladdin it stayed true to the original animated Aladdin But I'll give it this it's better then the 2017 live action Beauty and the Beast
