Is it me or does it seem like Western philosophy has been trying to play catch up with Eastern philosophy? Being and event is basically a westerners attempt to explain hindu advaita vedanta.

You are right, Badiou is on the wrong track, he should abandon modern philosophy and just reassert ancient spiritualism, and he shouldn't call it nostalgia either because this return to roots will not involve a return to a different way of life, that has not run its course and passed into historical impossibility.

@@unclequoque6800 well he is on the right track but it's different track to reach what eastern philosophy has already said. What sets western philosophy on different paths is the belief in an external world reality in that somehow their is a me and their are other separate mechanical things/bodies outside of me separate from me. Eastern philosophy simply says that their is no consistent method to do this and that really it's just shuffling concepts around in different orders.

@@PhilosophyStrizsch in the list of philosophers you gave, would you also include aristotle? Seeing that aristotle developed from plato and is a major source of influence for hegel and heidegger, also for badiou as well. So if badiou is a neo hindu new age without being indian, is it possible that badiou is neo hindu new age via hegel, heidegger and their common link in aristotle? And if so, does this mean that hegel, heidegger and aristotle are in some way neo hindu new age?
