ALAMAT is another group too look out for. SB19 & ALAMAT has been those group that has been consistent with their theme & dropping music & MVs.

I really love the fact that the entire Dagundong song is a compressed history of the Philippines. The lyrics and the imagery really shows you a glimpse of our struggle towards freedom and independence against the colonizers. Alamat is such a gem and deserves so much more.

Alamat is so good at representing their culture, with great vocals, lyrics, dancing and visuals. I have loved every song they have put out. They keep getting better and better. I can’t understand why they don’t have as many subscribers as I would expect from a group of their talents. After SB19, they are my favorite P-Pop boy group, and my dream is that they would someday go on tour together🤎🩵

Even though I love their ballads (especially Walang Hanggan), this is my favourite song they've ever done. It's so important but still super catchy. It's like part 2 of Kasmala, in that they're referencing Philippine history again, but unlike Kasmala, where the references are only in the MV and the lyrics are more like a metaphor, Dagundong has them explicitly in the lyrics too. And the full album is so good! I'm pretty sure there will be official lyric videos for all the songs - Dayang is coming out today, and I assume the others will follow. There's a TON of historical references in the lyircs and costuming, but the song is basically about the country's history of repeatedly being colonized - first by Spain, then by America and Japan. One of Alas' lines talks about how even though we won the war against our first colonizers (Spain), we didn't know that deals were being made behind our backs, which I think is a reference to Spain selling us to the Americans. So we weren't really free at all. And you could say that that's still true today, with the people in power still selling us out to the highest bidder to line their own pockets and keep power for themselves. It could even be a reference to the way so many Filipinos think so little of their own culture and value other cultures more; still colonized in mind if not in body. The clothing is all very intentional too. Alas and Mo are dressed to evoke the Mandirigma, the warriors of the Battle of Mactan, when Magellan and his forces attempted to take over but were killed by the local warriors, led by Lapulapu. Taneo and Tomas are dressed like the Katipuneros, the revolutionaries who fought against the Spanish, and R-Ji and Jao represent the Illustrados (upper class Europe-educated Filipinos) - one of whom, Jose Rizal, became a national hero after writing 2 novels that inspired Filipinos to fight for independence.

I'm a fan of SB9 but I hope Alamat and other Ppop groups and OPM artists get recognized as well. SB19's goal to break into the world's music industry will only come to fruition if other Filipino artists get the break they so well deserve. ❤️❤️❤️

Hi Hurraira, thank you for this RV! Yup, I agree with you that DAGUNDONG is a statement. It is well done! Thanks to the team Alamat. I love their outfits, from Alas and Mo who represents the Mandirigma or the warriors, Taneo and Tomas as the Katipuneros or revolutionaries and R-Ji and Jao as the Ilustrados or the Educated-rich class ( like the national hero Jose Rizal). Oh, and that’s just a little bit of the whole concept of this MV! ALAMAT is ALAMAT.🤎🥰

Your guess is right, as there's many words in Filipino that are onomatopoeic: Ex: 'pokpok'/'pukpok'/'pukpuk' means - 1) hitting like a hammer hitting a nail 2) expletive for the act of making babies (yes THAT imagery) 3) Philippines' bird that is named so because it acts like a woodpecker That's what I said on the teaser and official MV, I said I got goosebumps. YMU (You Me Us) is the group that worked with SB19 There's a bit of an unfortunate drama going on, but I know they'll get through it and hope that they get through it sooner rather than later. I think it's a necessary drama to make them solidify who they are and push them to better heights. I recommend researching on their producer Jason Paul Laxamana

Alamat is underrated in the Ph and they aro so filthy good. But Ppop in general is still not on a mainstream music here. It's a good thing SB19 has been so visible that now more companies are getting other Ppop artists to guest in dfferent events and Mainstream Telly. I just saw Bini and BGYO in a variety show this afternoon which made me happy because finally the doors have been opening for all of them as they deserve. And one reason because SB19 paved the way for Ppop to go mainstream here in our country. A big factor of that is International reactors and fans like u helping them to be more known locally imagine that. So thank u so much Hurraira these boys are wonderful and I love their authenticity. Ppop music for me defined by SB19 ALAMAT BGYO For GIRL group Kaia G22 They all have different distinct style and I enjoy their music a lot There are a lot more good upcoming ppop artists but these groups have already established their own style in music based on my eardrums 😂 I mean my preference in music

I used to hate History back when I was still studying. Back then, the trend for us Filipinos was to leave the country and seek citizenship abroad, which was what almost all of my cousins did. We'd rather be someone else and not a Filipino. But look at me now, slowly waking up and longing to get to know my roots. Thanks to Alamat's influence that got me longing to rediscover my identity, they've encouraged me to see what my ancestors have given up their lives for. As of recent, I've just learned how to read and write Baybayin (a pre-colonial writing system in the Philippines), and have started hitting the books once more. "Dong-Dong-Ay" hits home for me. Makes my eyes water every single time. Thank you for appreciating this group with us!

I'm so sorry it would take me 3 full pages just to point out the visual reference, the historical references from each line point out to their respective point in history and they were also playing with the vocabs. Chills! I swear, it's like a summary of the country's colonial history. Just a weird detail though, Alas is Mindanaoan Bisaya so he is wearing a warrior class outfit but the weave patterns look like from Taneo's region the Cordilleras. It got me confused for a bit heheh 😅

After SB19💙, ALAMAT🤎 is my second most favorite boy group in Pinoy pop Edit: I like their songs but I love ABKD the most 🤎 Edit (2): I love Mo's voice the most 🤎 I love all of their singing voices of course but there's just- Mo's just snatched my heart, caged it, locked it, then had thrown the key away
