I was fortunate to have watch "Gilligan's Island" when it was "new" back in 1964🙏🏻. It was a long time ago. I'm going to say it came on Wednesday nights either 7:30pm or 8:00pm And maybe "Lost in Space" right after? I think Different state's ran the shows at different days and times. All I know is, we had great TV shows throughout the 1960's Even the Cartoon show was great! " _The Flintstone, The Jetsons, Top Cat, Huckelberry Hound, Magilla Gorilla, Courageous Cat & Minute Mouse, Q.T. Hush, Mighty Mouse_ etc. Some were shown on Prime time like The Flintstones & Top Cat! When you watch a cartoon with the names Hanna & Barbera, you know it's a great Cartoon 👍🏻

Alan Hale Jr. was an accomplished actor. I've been watching episodes of Perry Mason and he has had 2 guest appearances. He guest starred on Hazel.The Wild Wild West as a Secret Service Agent filling in for Ross Martin. He was definitely great on Gilligans Island. R.I.P. ALAN HALE JR.

A.H.Jr was in the Gunfighter as Richard Jackel's brother who throws down on Jimmy Ringo,played by Gregory Peck,also he was in the Indian Fighter with Kirk Douglas as the love interest of Kirk Douglas wife, sounds complicated but Kirk's first wife was a actress, she's the Mother of Michael. He also played Casey Jones in the Adventures of Casey Jones,it was on for a couple of seasons,and he was in Hang em High with Clint Eastwood. He had a pretty good career also a avid golfer.

I enjoyed the fact that the Skipper and Gilligan were basically a modern day Laurel and Hardy, set on a desert island! Not only were the relational dynamics very similar, but Alan Hale Jr.’s technique of looking straight into the camera in moments of exasperation was classic Oliver Hardy- and was a very effective technique for drawing the viewer into the scene. I have learned that because Alan Hale Jr. had an actor father and grew up around entertainment figures, he had actually been on the set of Laurel and Hardy as a boy, and had met these actors. He learned from the masters! I enjoyed Gilligan’s Island very much as a child, and it is timeless- still is entertaining decades later. I had also read that rather that disliking that he was so associated with this role, Alan embraced it, and used his status and his persona as the Skipper for good, taking the time to go and visit sick children who were in the hospital. Nice! I always have respect for people who achieve fame and use it in this way. This was an interesting video.

He loved being known as Skipper. I don't know if that was his favorite role, but he sure embraced it. And, as you said, used that for good. He was truly a remarkable and lovable man.

I must admit I enjoyed the show.....at first. Then, questions began to accumulate....I mean WHERE did ENOUGH food come from for three square meals/day for that many people, and WHO prepped it and HOW? How did they always appear in fresh clothing, and who did the ironing? Where did they sleep, especially in inclement weather? Just where did the pool table come from? Lastly, where did Giligan hide his motorcycle? BHE
@janetryan9779
@janetryan9779 6 ай бұрын
@@blackholeentry3489 Yes, I have thought many those things, too- and though some of the people always wore the same clothing, how did others “just happen” to have many different garments with them for a 3-hour boat ride? One had to temporarily suspend logic in some ways when watching it- but nevertheless, it was still an entertaining show… : )

No, I did not know he was "one of the first Nepo Babies". Because that is a new and derisive term that did not exist back in the day. Calling him such is an insult to the memory of a talented and wonderful man. I nearly gave this thumbs down due to that. We would have called him a member of an Acting Dynasty, which is far more apt. On the plus side, I did not know he baked on set. Now I know where all those coconut cream pies came from, not from MaryAnn but the Skipper.

I love Gilligan's Island, always have, always will. I adopted a dog from a vet clinic I work in. He was found as a stray by a client of the clinic and brought in to be taken care of. He had multiple physical and health issues, but he was such a sweet, loving little thing. Once he was well enough, one of the vets took him home and would always bring him in when he worked. He would look for me and follow me around, so I called him my little buddy. When I adopted him, I named him Gilligan, because of Skipper calling Gilligan "Little Buddy" all the time.

I do, however, know he was in the adventures of Robin Hood and the The Sea Hawk. All are my favorite movies. As a funny part of this. Growing up, I watched all these movies and did not realize until I was older that in the adventures of Robin Hood, it was Alen Hale Sr, and in Gilligan's Island, it was Alen Hale Jr. As a kid, you don't realize the age of the film. Proof of that, as a child in the 60s, i was in love with Olivia de Havilland, never realizing she at the time was my mother's age. Actually, not until I looked up the date of the movie. Truth is I still see Olivia de Havilland as the most beautiful actress on the screen to this day.
