Actually Ashton is a pretty bad actor. He trully can't sell anything other than a dumb pretty boy from a nice background. He's voice is too relatable to the good mamas boy next door, he's appearance is stale, nothing too appealing. Really didn't understand why he was cast to "replace" Charlie. So many other actor would have been 100 times better. He's just too common, too girly pretty, too known, too goofy. Not watchable

Honestly, I think the writers did an amazing job making Alan take on Charlie’s personality while still making the former his own entity. He’s not just a copy/paste of Charlie. Charlie never said “cool.” He would give Jake $100 minimum. And Alan’s lines aren’t quite as catchy as Charlie’s.

Alternate post-Charlie premise: Alan, somehow, inherits the house. Along with other royalties Charlie had coming. Judith kicks out Herb, and they subsequently divorce. Herb stays with Alan for "just a couple days." But, they get along with each other so well, especially with their hatred of Judith. And the premise continues with Alan SLOWLY becoming more and more like Charlie. Basically, everything that happened in this episode, but spanned throughout an entire season or half season. Jake remains the half-man. But he joins the army, which means Alan & Judith don't have a ton of responsibilities over him. He was very often used as a plot device for Alan & Judith, so without him, Judith's role & control over both Alan and Herb slowly fades away. Basically, the rest of the show should've been dedicated to Alan finally and completely freeing himself from Judith's grasp.

I despised the show after Charlie Sheen left, but Jon Cryer is an awesome actor, he truly seems he's talking to a dead relative he misses and he also seems a different human being after Charlie's spirit got into him. On the other hand they tried to make Charlie look like a person way worse than he really was, he was not that mean, rude and disrespectful to girls like Alan (acting like Charlie) was with Melanie. Charlie just didn't want a serious relationship and I think he was quite unfair with Melissa, and I'm surprised he didn't feel guilty with her like he did with other woman (like Jake's teacher), but even that way he was way not the awful human that was presented in this episode, he had morals and feelings.
