The interview with Simon pegg as the milkybar kid is particularly good. Lastly, not forgetting where it all started on the day today. Some great Partridge content on KZbin from that. I think it's worth watching the Alan Partridge stuff on The Day Today. I'm pretty sure it's non-canonical in the Partridge story, but it's still very funny (both it and Brasseye are worth watching regardless of the Alan content in The Day Today).

Right, I'll tell you an anecdote! In 1975 I was catching the London train from Crewe station. It was very crowded, I found myself in a last-minute rush for the one remaining seat with a tall, good-looking man with collar-length hair, it was the seventies - buckaroo! When I sat down on the chair, I looked up and realised it was none other than Peter Purves! It was at the height of his Blue Peter fame! Yes, please review old Partridge. I live in the U.S. and love British comedy shows, but they never get any promotion or coverage over here. The vast majority of Americans have never even heard of Partridge, so the more exposure you can give, the better.

I finally listened to From The Oasthouse because of this video. Took me a bit of time to get into what they were going for with the format but I ended up really liking the less formal, chattier feeling (it's still as tightly scripted) compared to the previous two audio books. Yes, the amount of times the music plays is obnoxious. Gibbons-era Partridge is much more real and nuanced while still nailing the character as perfectly as ever and being as funny. It's an amazing achievement, the character is now 31 years old and I can't think of any of it that wasn't great. And there's *so* much of it.

I felt the last episode was anticlimactic, but it actually showed personal growth. Alan deciding to not go after his bully was something he would never have done in earlier shows. He's matured - very slowly, but he has. "From the Oasthouse" is probably in my top 3 of Alan Partridge shows. "Nomad" being my favorite standalone story.

When he says about the volume difference, yeah it is bad if you are watching it while other people are about or while doing other things, that kind of soundtrack is intended to be heard in a quiet environment where you can have it loud enough to hear the voices but then can also allow it to get as loud as it wants to when shit hits the fan. As the start of Driller Killer says "Play this movie loud!" No my fav argento though.
