As a Milan fan, HUGE respect for Newcastle who gave us quite a scare. But they shouldn't just drop their performance when there is still time to equalize. It was truly astonishing to see the team just run out of gas like that. Hopefully the best is to happen in the future. As for Tomori, who I watch week in and week out. He's been our best defender 3 years in a row now, center back of the 21/22 (scudetto winning) season, and our best defender since the start of this season, it BLOWS MY MIND that he is in the same conversation as Dunk or Guehi when he is LIGHTYEARS ahead of them. At the world cup he wasn't even called up and instead Maguire and Dier were called up. That screams EPL bias and total ignorance of football outside the prem. As long as this attitude exists, trust me, England will not win a single competition in Europe.
@theonetheonlyjoey
@theonetheonlyjoey 9 ай бұрын
I completely agree mate... most England fans (or at least the sensible ones) have been asking why Tomori isn't in the squad for ages now In my eyes, he's our best centre back and I'm stunned that Gareth Southgate would rather pick his mates, than actually choose our best squad. As you say, we will never win anything with that mentality

it's a shame really when it comes down to it Milan should actually be going through to the knockout stage rather than the Europa league. If there was any justice PSG shouldn't have been given that scandalous penalty which would have seen Milan going through to the knockout stages, Newcastle to Europa League and PSG being eliminated

After Leao and Maignan, Tomori had been AC Milan's most important player. He has been one of the best defenders in Serie A for the past 3 seasons,plays regularly in the Champions League and has won Serie A. The way he's disrespected in England is ridiculous

I'll preface this with, I'm a Newcastle supporter. So I'm probably bias. Since takeover there's been a change in how fans of other teams interact with newcastle supporters. it SEEMS like it's from a place of jealousy, but of course I don't know the inner workings of other people. But that is why it seems like people are basking in our 'failures' more now. No one cared about Newcastle being rinsed by Mike Ashley, and fighting relegation every year, but we weren't a threat to a clubs position higher up the table. Now we have ambitions to be in those positions, those fans are worried. Which is weird, because beyond anything, a more competitive league is way more interesting than City just running away with it every year. I love seeing the likes of Aston Villa, Brighton, (newcastle, more so last season) battling for those top positions, makes the league way more interesting. But I think a lot of fans (or should I say, a vocal minority?) of the traditional big 6 feel entitled BECAUSE they're fans of one of the big 6. Big 6 is a myth and no team should be held higher than any other. You can be knocked off quicker than you can climb up.

Newcastle's biggest aim should be to keep Howe in the driving seat and not jump ship expecting another coach could do more. When you talk about the spine of a team, he's exactly that. The players work for him so the new owners ought to plan their project with him being at the top of the list.

PSG are winning in a one team league and always flattered to deceive in the Champions League. The other two are just .... average. Why the 'pile on'? Simple : should've done better. Plus, absolutely no reason why they shouldn't have held out for a draw to get in to the Europa.

Proud to be a Geordie but also very concerned.if we don't take our chances early on against Fulham we will get comfortably beaten! Eddie has been very loyal to the current squad but he needs to get a goalkeeper, a centre forward, a wide forward, centre half and a no6. The striker, wide forward and a goalkeeper is the minimum we need to do next month and I have full faith in Dan Ashworth and the board to give Eddie the tools to finish top 4 and go on a real run after Christmas.

I don't think it was that they went for it too soon personally, they statistically dominated the game. What it essentially came down to was tiredness and a difference in quality, I don't think anyone can hold it against Newcastle that their patchwork team ravaged with injuries, consisting of players that nearly got them relegated don't have the same quality and experience as a full strength and rested AC Milan side. Newcastle 8 shots on target and Milan have 2 (which they scored). I think the tactics were pretty spot on, they created loads more chances than Milan, unfortunately the manager's tactics can lead to chances created but the players have to have the quality to finish them.

Has anyone ever gone from finishing 11th to 4th before in the PL or similar other than Leicester? Such a big jump so soon, I think the Toon have done well to compete and still be up there in the league and in the cups, but it was always going to be hard transitioning from a bang average mid table at best side to being seen as a UCL team, I think if they add a few more they could have a very strong end to the season, important to remember that on top of the injuries to key players from last year like Willock, Botman, Wilson, Burn, Longstaff etc they literally lost their 2 biggest summer signings to a ban and an injury, they are essentially weaker than last year currently, and playing more games.

Hi, a club that improved so much n so quickly wanted to win all ,they didn't allow themselves to build in full force like the big guns.UNWA.

As a Villa fan, if we qualify for the Champions League our experience of European football in the Conference League will be vital. If Newcastle had had that experience before they played in the CL I think they would've got through.

obviously biased but the only game of football that has physically had me in tears of joy was the Boro in the Uefa Cup games, to get to the final we found ourselves in the position of needing to score 4 goals in not one but two cup games and boy did we do it, has any game caused anyone to have "tears of joy"???

I think Newcastle are and will be hamstrung by ffp and its affect on their ability to sign those top players to take them to the next level. You can say they are ahead of schedule but really they need to be winning a trophy and cementing top 4 in the next 2 seasons. At lot depends on the owners patience when things don't go well. Another important thing for Newcastle is their academy. That needs to start bringing players through for the first team and to sell. As a city fan I find it interesting to watch Newcastle and their development due to the similarities in the ownership. I think football wise they're in a pretty good place, they'll be ups and down for them. But their fans can enjoy the ride. The Premier league is very competitive right now. Probably 3 of the 5 best teams in the world right now. Plus villa, Newcastle, spurs. It's funny English football is in a very strong place right now. Probably the strongest its been since the late 70's early 80's?

I'm a Geordie living just outside Milan and was watching in local bar. I told all the old guys that second half Newcastle would fall apart. They kept saying no no no, you're too fast. In the end i was facing Italian insults and lord knows what. Truth is it was about game management and that comes from the manager himself. We've been found out recently, with a Boss great at getting us to a point, but without the skills and experience to deal with being there. It's going to be a long season and there will be some hard questions.....

why do we keep giving newcastle excuses, "ahead of schedule" you mean over achieved while others under achieved, bad investing during the summer
