Alan literally saved my life. Not metaphorically, but truly kept me from committing suicide. I was suffering from deep depression and held a lot internally to prevent upsetting my family. If not for hearing some of his videos over on his channel, I wouldn’t be here today. I had a gun in my mouth at one point and put it down and prayed. This interview means so much to me. I’m 45 and starting to get healthy, working out, and getting my spiritual life back where it should be. God bless you all for what you do. Alan, I doubt we will ever meet in this world. Know that I am thankful and grateful for your words. I’m happier now than I’ve been in my entire life. Appreciate you for sharing your story!

@@marissashantez6051 I think it’s unfortunate that people can not disagree with others and still enjoy watching a show or move on with their lives. If everyone agreed on everything, it would be a boring world. I remember when you could discuss differences of opinion without concern of losing family relationships or friendships. It’s a stupid world we live in.

I hope this isn’t weird to say, but as a never married, childless, single 48-year-old who decided to get my master degree and then covid hit, followed by a breast cancer diagnosis and losing my father all in the last 2+ years….dealing with grief, anxiety, depression, and imposter syndrome (in college) it means a lot to me that you do what you do, and to hear people my age talk about these things so openly and honestly….it helps me work towards self-acceptance, put myself back out there, and embrace and enjoy the journey…So thank you. Much appreciation. ❤

I don't think I've ever felt so, impressed, or humbled by someone in an interview. Alan is an incredible genuine human, and I cannot be happier for his success, and survival thus far despite and in spite of his challenges. Hearing him talk so openly about therapy and mental as undoubtedly one of the current, and likely longstanding iconic role models and talk about opening up gives me such hope for people growing up now. My life would have been a lot more survivable seeing and hearing someone like him when I was younger. Genuinely wish him everything he wants in life, and a long happy career dling whatever it is he wants, even if he can get that zero fame job he wants and he disappears

We connect through pain - so right! I spent 44 years never opening up and never talking about my pain and keeping people away. Then I did and it's saved and changed my life. Now I have friends, I understand myself better and I volunteer with a men's mental health charity helping with peer to peer talking so I can give back and help other men. And it all works, because we talk and we share our pain together.

To this day Alan's first interview on here is my favorite ep of Inside of You and one of my fav pod eps ever. The best thing about this second one, which is equally as transparent is that you can see and hear all the growth that he's had since then. The authenticity is off the charts. Ultimately I think these two interviews are the best examples as to why Michael started Inside of You in the first place, and coupled with Talk Ville, Michael has one of the best one-two punches in the podcast game.

This show is amazing and I often watch it when ever I'm able to and enjoy it it helps me get through the day. I have often felt at times I'm not worthy, or not good enough. Doing what I love which is writing has often helped me. I'm bipolar and I often go through these same feelings daily every day.

Great conversation as always! The conversation about working on yourself rather than the career and the illusion of success really spoke to me. Really looking forward to Reacher season 2!

Watching Alan on the this struck a chord with me. His unfiltered honesty about his mental struggles resonates a lot. It's refreshing to see a prominent figure openly address these challenges without resorting to the usual 'sensitive soul' clichés. Alan's ability to turn his difficulties into growth is inspiring. He shows that emerging stronger doesn't mean being entirely unscarred; it's about embracing strength alongside lingering vulnerabilities. His authenticity on screen isn't just an act; it's an extension of his genuine self, evident in everything he does which is why he is so absolutely watchable in anything. A real man in this weird world we're in.
