I venture to suggest Alan wouldn’t have placed his hand inside a priceless historical gauntlet.

I think great idea if he goes to cheers and see it's out of business which it is in real life and he buys then him and fire men can hang out there and see the old gang from cheers and how they're retired and all their problems ect, would be a great addition to show and Instead of radio and TV he should start a podcast cast show with Roz

Well the canned laughter thinks it's hilarious. Personally I think Dora the Explorer has got better jokes.

Everyone seems to be talking about old "Frasier" actors guesting on the new. What about any of the cast from "Cheers"? It takes place in Boston, after all.
@DomWeasel9 ай бұрын
A lot of Frasier fans don't seem to have watched Cheers, or are even aware that Frasier is a spin-off of another show.

Three things: 1) I get it. We want funny predicaments. However, it's a gauntlet. That's a leather glove covered--on one side--with metal. But the other side is just a leather glove. Slips right off. Brigandine gauntlets from the 14th century--which we have found at archaeological sites--all required straps to hold them in place. Google it. 2) Why would anyone going into battle want giant hooks dangling off the elbow side of a gauntlet? This thing looks like something from a video game. What happens during close-quarters combat when your gauntlet gets trapped in the mail of the solider standing next to you? 3) "Cavaliers" (chevalier, in French) were English. That term began during the 17th century English civil war. If you want to use it more broadly as "horseman", then the gauntlet is wrong because you can't wear a locked-wrist hourglass gauntlet (infantry swordsman) while mounted on a horse. Also (2:18), we're all just okay with that cutting board out for no reason?

Whoah!!!!! (the dialogue sucks too)😁😁😁

@@imeanithonest5704 The cutting board, right? I've watched that episode three times and I still can't get past it.
@DomWeasel9 ай бұрын
1) Old leather can be as rigid as wood. Have you never got your hand stuck in an old well-used garden glove? 2) Those hooks would overlap the vambrace and the couter protecting the elbow and plate armour like that wasn't worn around men wearing mail. Spiky armour may have been impractical but it was worn for intimidation. 3) Chevalier is the French term for knight and is completely unconnected to the Cavaliers of the English Civil War. They were called Cavaliers by the Roundheads as an insult. Plenty of knights and men-at-arms fought on foot during the 14th century as armouring horses as thoroughly as the men who rode them was expensive.
@WifeWantsAWizard9 ай бұрын
@@DomWeasel 1) I wrap my garden gloves around a softball and then sleep with it under my mattress. It's an old Yale trick. 2) ...by Sauron. 3) Possible, but it's my understanding that "chevalier" comes from the Gaul word for "horse". It passed into Latin as the Romans used it derogatorily after the conquest by Julius Caesar. It also eventually became the Mexican "caballero" you hear in Westerns, also meaning "horseman".

The "humour" is feeble. Frasier's never once preciously mentioned "best friend" is a very poor man's Nialls substitute. And the diversity hire females are totally forgettable.
