He left Leeds for obvious reasons and I get it. He didn't fail at Man United anyway. He won the league, played in a few decisive games. Defeating Arsenal with the assist to Rooney to finish the game off and break Arsenal's 49 game unbeaten run. And also a brave and superb performance against Chelsea that Man United won 1-0 to break their 40 game unbeaten run. Scoring in the 7-1 win over Roma and booked United's place in the Champions League semis. He only failed when he left Man United. He may play in midfield during his time at Man United but he was used very well by Ferguson. But from a neutral point of view, he have an above average career. His main highlights would be his 2001 Champions league run to the Semi Finals and winning the league with Manchester United in 2007. Love him, hate him, that's football.

When you're in a situation where you have no choice but to sell players, they're not about making profit anymore, they're about getting money fast. 7 million was a very good price and in reality, anyone else would have paid 3 million. Football is a Religion in Leeds believe me, i lived there for 47 years and worshipped along with many thousands of others at the shrine of Bremner and Revie. Rugby and Cricket, while quite popular , pales into insignificance alongside the popularity of Leeds United who still have the potential to draw crowds of over 40, 000 regularly if only they could reach the top echelons of their sport once more.
