And that's the reason most of us fans understand there's something more to nightingale, his lost Comrad and alkohol and being stripped of his duty's at the FBI you know what I think nightingale joined the FBC after being relieved of his duty's at the FBI in Washington the same one Alex Casey aka max Payne was working from he met Sarah's dad at the FBC someone is a mole in the FBC set up nightingale and his partner during a sting operation that went wrong when lightening appeared on the dry docks yard and werewolves appeared in quantum break as prescribed in control files everyone died except the person who filed the report is this nightingale but back then they were monarch or they just joined FBC and got setup that fateful day there's a file in control that spoke of a incident were werewolves appeared after a lightening flash I said in the past this almost sounds like Paul serene back on 2009 the first experiment as William Joyce stated in quantum break nightingale and his partner were a part of the FBC sent to the dry docks after there a.i at the FBC indicated anomalies at the drydocks I came to this theory because nowhere else is the drydocks ever mentioned in all of the remedy verse except quantum break I also think Alan is the one who created the entire remedy verse and were seeing his books come to life he's also got writer's block that could be fixed circa Alan wake 2 anyway I Think nightingale was with the team sent to the drydocks in 2009 in quantum break his partner died there they may have been really close like bending each other over behind the scenes maybe we know nightingale is alkohol prone and angry and only FBC shoot first ask questions after is this why nightingale thinks he can do anything he wants in recordings and file accounts man Mr lake and the entire team have us questioning what's real fake and wrong and right nightingale is obviously a Lovecraft buff who has a interest in the outside the square box theory's but still he exists for now and he maybe regrettably guilty that he's now on the other side and knows Alan wake is in this new world he's just appeared in since Alan wake the hotel could be the bridge but Alex Casey will die at the hands of Alan wake as prescribed in quantum breaks sneak peak of future events

Agent Nightingale in my opinion, was a really good example of a well written cliché. He served as more of a purpose than just being a disposable antagonist, he actually solidified for everyone else that what is happening to Alan is genuinely happening. I also laughed my butt off when he got dragged out the door.
@GamingUniversityUoG Жыл бұрын
Yeah. He is intended to be a foil and barrier to Alan's actions. To provide a bit of drama and make us frustrated with him. He also serves to characterize Sheriff Breaker. Seeing her being in opposition to him. But he really is a fully fleshed out character that the game never really let's us see.

This was a great video Dean! I actually feel really bad for agent Nightingale and Alan as well. In a way Alan is made into a rather horrific demigod against his will and used to kill, maim, mental destroy, and ruin people. Half of what he wrote was due to the Dark Prescence. And then he was forced to make the best of what he had which involved a lot of lesser of two evils choices. There is also Hartman to consider... if he hadn't written his book, built the clinic and later convinced a worried Alice to come to Cauldron Lake would any of this happened? *shrugs* Who knows. But looking forward to the next video.

@@GamingUniversityUoG No, I mean that in a lore sense. I finished Control AWE and Alan Wake today, so I don't have such expertise as you :) But what if Nightingale didn't exist before Alan wrote about him? Agent Casey is fictional character but he's alive in the second game, same could happen with Nightingale. Alan Wake just created a character because he needed a person to be possessed bu the darkness instead of Alice
@GamingUniversityUoG Жыл бұрын
From everything we have seen that's not how it works. Alan uses pre-existing people and nudges them into place. The issue with Casey is unique which is why I'm curious to see how it is handled. The idea would be that once the story is over, anything he created vanishes. So Nightingale would have simply vanished completely once Departure finishes. We know this is not the case because when Clay went to Bright Falls after the fact, he found a full life for him outside of the story. Because of this, my personal hypothesis for Casey is that he will die during the story. That way he is already gone from the plot before it ends. Considering the Return trailer in Quantum Break they have already foreshadowed this.

I'm not sure "defense" is quite the right word. Nightingale did horrible things, and we ultimately are responsible for the choices we make. But when we understand the humanity in people who go down terrible routes, it helps us to avoid those paths, and just maybe offers them a path to redemption.
@GamingUniversityUoG Жыл бұрын
My defense of Nightingale is solely in regards to his depth of character. I've seen a lot try to claim that he is a pointless and badly written character. Not that he is free from any moral wrongdoing. I'm trying to show how Remedy intended so much more for him that we never got to see and that may be the reason some in the community looks at the character so poorly.

Hi there! I have a question for you and I'm interested to know your opinion. Two theories are circulating on the internet regarding the creation of things using the Dark Place in the context of Alan Wake. The first theory suggests that Alan can create things and characters for his story and that Alex Casey, the agent, is a creation tool he utilizes. Additionally, some believe that Tomas Zane is the one who created Alan. The second theory proposes that Alan is clairvoyant and uses his visions as inspiration for his writing. He cannot create out of nothing but only manipulates events and characters. Like in the AWE DLC. It implies that Alex Casey is a real person, and Alan somehow had knowledge of this and wrote about him. What are your thoughts on these theories? If Zane did create Alan, it would diminish the story and the tragic nature of Alan's character.
@GamingUniversityUoG Жыл бұрын
Personally I think it is a mixture of the two. American Nightmare and the QR Code visions flat out say that alan gets information from the outside world. Some through TV sets, some through dreams. He learns of things he otherwise shouldn't know which is used to write his characters. That being said, Casey is an example of him projecting a creation out into the world that didn't previously exist. This is the first time we saw it. Zane (aka Bright Presence), says he is not the author of Alan's story. It is entirely likely that alan just wrote that Zane wrote about him. In a Meta way. But even if Zane (real person zane), did write about him, it wouldn't diminish anything for me. In the same way that Alan brought Jesse into his story, he doesn't control her actions or manifest her from nothing. She is her own person making her own choices. Alan is the same.
@christophermaccool8029 Жыл бұрын
and I thought Agent Nightingale wasn't a fan of Aln books or just did not like how the Alex Casey trilogy ended after only six books.
@ZwiekszoneRyzyko Жыл бұрын
This is something Sam Lake keeps struggling with, I noticed. So much backstory has to be dug out of additional content, documents, forgotten tie-ins and the like. For new players Nightingale was just a "chaser", something to push the story forward, when in reality he's a deeply tragic character with his own motivations and rich background. The other example is the Ordinary AWE, something that SHOULD HAVE been in Control, if not as additional playable levels then as flashbacks. I found documents describing what happened more interesting than the main story itself. If that had been really shown to us then Dylan - just like Nightingale - would not have been just a walking plot device.
@Neb_Raska Жыл бұрын
Yeah but that would've destroyed some of the mysticism surrounding Ordinary, like the Not Mother and the kid that turns into a dog-like creature.

No mention of the other victims being nude, when Wake/Scratch surfaces, he is fully clothed. So why is Nightingale naked? Did something occur to him between the original Alan Wake and the sequel? However I think it is unfair to say he does things and causes mass collateral damage out of pure selfishness. Is has 0 control over what happened in the first game. A literal lovecraftian entity took over his mind and controlled 95% of the story. The only thing Alan did of his own conscious intention was to sacrifice himself to save his wife.

It is currently being edited. These wouldnt be dropping now if the AW2 trailer didnt come out. They were all made months ago so it is not interfering with the Psychonauts release.

Hey, that's not what "titular" means. It means "in title only." So, like, a titular writer would be someone who calls themselves a writer but doesn't actually write anything (which, I guess, does apply to Alan Wake). If you want to say, "the writer whose name is in the title," that would be the eponymous writer, or the title character.

I think my favourite thing about your videos is seeing all the things you got wrong, and trying to figure out how you did it. I reached all of the same conclusions you did after years of playing every game Remedy has made (yes, even Death Rally though it isn't part of this universe, I played it as a kid), except where you were wrong. Example: Alex Casey is referred to, by you, multiple times as a fictional character over the years when it is clear he never was - Alan was never even so much as hinted as having the power to create people from whole cloth; only to take what is there and use it for his story. I have always assumed Casey was a real man that Alan pulled into his stories. This became obvious to even non-scholars in the very intro of Alan Wake II that you show here, when Casey mentions his resemblance to the character and how he has been poked at for it ever since Alan wrote the books. If that wasn't enough, the previous rules established, you know, literally everywhere in the games made the conclusion that Casey was a real man pulled in the same way as others have been (Saga being the latest, but we can also point to Serena Valdivia, Emma Sloane, Dr Rebecca Meadows, Rose, Mulligan and Thornton, and others who have been used in Alan's stories and touched by the power, on top of Casey. These were all real people - some of whom were talked to by the FBC; a fact I've never seen mentioned in any of your videos.) Anyway, just came to say that, and that you have somewhat inspired me to perhaps create my own youtube channel, since this is the best one I have found and apparently, I know more about the topic. No offense intended, just honesty. :) There are other examples, such as you being fooled along with everyone else that the "evil" Alan we see was Mr. Scratch, when he never really was. Mr Scratch was destroyed at the end of American Nightmare, and if I wasn't already certain this new "Scratch" was actually Alan possessed the moment we saw him, then the song "Herald of Darkness" totally gave away the game with the line "Show me the Champion of Light; I'll show you the Herald of Darkness" meaning they were one and the same. Mr Scratch never appeared in a single scene of Alan Wake II, because he was destroyed. The possessed Alan is only referred to by that name by the characters in the game because they are unaware of what I figured out immediately, and what most players only figured out when the game outright told them - and even then, I've seen people continue to refer to Possessed Alan as Mr Scratch when they are two distinct characters; Scratch was the manifestation of both Alan's own insecurities and his public persona as a bad boy jacked up to 10,000 - destroyed by Alice's documentary, "Sunrise" revealing to the world what Alan was really like, eliminating that idea of him in the public consciousness, as well as Alan's own acceptance of his dark half and embrace of Alice's view of him at the end of Alan's "Return" attempt in American Nightmare. This is why he wears the Clothes: the flannel he wore during their desert vacation was created by him in his mind to remind him of that time and clothe him in Alice's love and ideal of him. (Also, another hint we get that when Alan comes out of the lake, it is really Alan Wake himself in his own body, and not "Scratch"). I look forward to more of your highly entertaining and well-crafted videos. About to watch the playthrough to see if you admit all the ways you've been wrong over the years yet. :P I hope you do, and take this in the spirit it is intended, because admitting when we are wrong, and accepting new truths is a huge part of being a man, or a good human. Good luck.

They should've just kept the original Saga Anderson instead of going woke. The character was already a woman FFS. I am surprised they didnt make her LGBTQRSIYYREREUYGBXYZ+ too. That way all the woke agenda checkmarks would've been checked.

I see this take a lot, and I am genuinely curious, what is so "woke" about Saga? If you're willing to elaborate. No hostility here, just trying to see this perspective.

@@HellBoundYEAHHhe’s mad about saga being black. Simple as that. Racist crybaby crying, nothing new.
