In a nutshell, the bureau, the alternative objects, the directors, the board, Hish, ... were all fictional things created by the typewriter and Alan Wake after the title.

Not full on. There are a couple of jump scares, but most of them you get warned about ahead. Which then becomes a bit terrifying in itself. I'd say it's more atmospheric than anything.

Is definitely a horror game. It has more emphasis on atmosphere and slow dread over shock and violence though. You'd get the best experience playing this game at night with headphones on. Bonus points if you've ever explored the woods of the Pacific Northwest at night like me and you'll appreciate how much they nail the feel of that atmosphere.

Just replayed this on Xbox 360 with an upscaler (M-Classic) and this remaster still looks so much better. Facial animation and lip syncing are drastically improved. That's where the game needed the most attention to be honest. It's got my $30 come Oct. 5th 💁🏻‍♂️💵
