Conversations, lectures such as this, stirs up to understand more and better, as well as realize how much we do not know and may never hear again, or maybe never hear. Only being here fully in the moment without leaping ahead or forming a question which interrupts attention and learning from the one who shares their POV and experiences.

A master called nazim, the one in my photo used to sit in silence for a whole day when he was prompt to do a talk. Then, people would ask questions the following day, and he spoke out of the effect of people requiring and answer. He knew deep down that there was ultimately nothing to actually answer, but our egos desire what they are too familiar with.

A part reminded me of when i was a child a asked what i want for Christmas and can't make up my mind or remember what i wanted, like i forget it because its a list of unattainable to our mind and now we have to prioritize the importance of things we haven't experienced and have only thought of owning so our brian kind of shorts out.,..for me at least...ALAN WATTS WOOOOOO!!

Plato thought the self is an immortal soul and existed before we were born. He believed all knowledge is remembered from our prior existence. A teacher(Zen master) can set forth a line of questioning that draws the knowledge from your subconscious memories of past existence which contains all knowledge you've ever retained in your collective subconscious. You don't have to fear being alone after death there is one true self, but with minions of egos experiences, knowledge.

You can't not worry - not out of some personal will at least. Firstly, you don't control your will. You don't choose what you want - that would just be expressing more 'want.' We don't choose our thoughts. We don't choose what we feel inside. Yes, those things can change, and we can learn habits, but worry never goes away. And you're not in control of it. Because 'to be in control' is a fallacy, since while perhaps we have free will, we still don't choose what that will is. Again, that would just be more 'expression of will.' And so you can, in a very deep way, let go - only because you know it's entirely not up to you. And so you also won't let go, often. And that not letting go is anxiety. And being forced to feel anxiety - your willingness to do it - it's the only thing to do in the moment. Teach yourself to be willing to feel it. And watch the anxiety transmute as it's being felt. "The mind that clings to nothing, rejects nothing" - that's you right now. Not because there's no clinging. There is - you're anxious. You're clenched inside. We all are. The statement is true because there's no mind. There's clinging, there's just not you.

If one believes he can fool another by using made up directions like east, west and south when there is only one true direction...magnetic north! They are not in reality

29:24 GO SOUTH... not west.. You can circumnavigate east to west on a ball, and also a flat Earth with the North Pole in the centre!

Ok sorry to break it down to you but not only Japanese culture is very ritualistic. Every single ancient culture is heavily ritualistic. Our ancestors traditions and superstitions we long made fun of are based on rituals. We just don’t understand them. Muslims pray five times a day in a special sequence. There are things you do before and after the prayer, depending on the time of day. There are sleep rituals to purify your body and soule before sleep, others when you wake up. What you say and how you handle cooking, things you do and say before eating and after. Islamic culture is one of the most ritualistic cultures if not the most nowadays. Maybe because it’s still a young religion, hopefully upcoming generations will keep up these rituals.
