I am always very happy to find a recording of a lecture from Alan Watts. His deep knowledge of history, cultures, spiritual traditions, and wisdom teachings combined with his speaking skills makes for thoroughly enjoyable, and uplifting listening.

love how this video highlights that real power comes not from controlling everything, but from trusting and empowering others. The idea that the universe works in harmony when we stop resisting and start flowing with it really resonates with me. This is such a refreshing reminder that our energy is best used when we let go of our need to manage every detail. How do you all think we can practice more of this in our daily lives?
@ArtofZentrificationАй бұрын
After I discovered Watts I learned that I may be pathologically Taoist. Most of my life has been uncalculated, but it was only 4 years ago that I heard anyone suggest that it was a good thing. I think through the practice of activities that grant easy access to meditative states we are allowed the possibility of direct experience of flowing without thought. One example of this for me is playing music. I can't write music by consciously thinking about it. I have to just play. Or sometimes I will paint a canvas blending colors and then see the image in the brush strokes and shades, and accentuate it. From a professional standpoint, I have been a Chef for 25 years. You can't resist the process of cooking. You can't force the process of cooking. You guide the process of cooking. You collaborate with it. It was by applying the teaching's and Watts and Taoism to my philosophy in the kitchen that I saw how it all works. Flowing is a skill that can be easily transferred to other aspects of life once one has an understanding. The fact that we are having this conversation is because I quit cooking five months ago and all I can say is, I know which direction I am going but the path can change at any moment.

Yeah, I fucked that up. It was early in my doing this and poor vision led to an err in judgement and I trusted the machines. The video has been good to the channel but I intend to break it in three parts and fix the subtitles after some original videos that I have in the works. I could pull it but I like the comments. I went from managing large teams in professional kitchens to working from home and I didn't bring the attention to detail with me, but I sorted that out.
