Got my 118d coupe, currently riding on 142,000 miles, serviced every 8k miles to stem the eventual timing chain wear, though I've swapped out most of the suspension, a remap and got rid of the runflats, its a pleasure to drive!

Radio isn't factory so check parking sensors still work because they often beep throught the standard radio and don't work with the aftermarket unit👍

My nephew had an 07 120D which is basically the same. He bought it as a 1 owner car from BMW with 44000 miles on it. This car honestly was the biggest pile of crap going, things were going wrong with it monthly with starship parts prices. He kept it about 4 years then changed it for a Hyundai i30 Diesel which has never gone wrong, is regularly serviced and has now done 170000 miles. Years ago I had an E30 325i and an E34 520i which were brilliant but BMW - never again for any of our family.

My next door neighbour had one of these when they were new Alan, they look alright, I was shocked at BMW reliability or lack of, I've always liked the 4 series it puts me off, BMW minis are a nightmare by all accounts.good luck getting some dough for it I'm sure someone will buy it.

@Roverturbo Possibly but you never know, my Mazda 6 with 2.2 MZR-CD engine, too was prone to timing chain wear but as I was changing oil ever 6k miles I've never had issues with it and it's done 136k miles before someone made a bonefire of the neighbours car and mine was parked next to it 😡

A motor mount is crying for help and the chain (and tensioner) should be done on one of these N47's profylactically, because it likes to snap or skip timing. Just a heads up, otherwise it's a cool cabrio.

Alan can I ask for some help please on a 2011 2.0 163 diesel mk4 mondeo, its been to 2 Ford dealerships and I've spent a fortune trying to understand what's wrong with it in mechanics time ans diagnostics. It's very intermittent but seems to be getting worse, the car shows no codes at all. But I believe its trying to regen but failing and just filling the cabin with a really bad burning smell, when I believe it trys to regen it just roughly idles to the point it nearly stalls, it also seems to have no get up ago at all especially into the higher rpms. I know it could be a all sorts of things that could be causing it.

hi Alan, just a quick question for you, i have got a ford focus st 2015, i am looking on ebay for a timing belt and waterpump kit, i remember in one of your vids with the yellow st diesel you did that you said the focus st diesel is the same engine as the mondeo 2.0tdci, but i have fount that the difference in price between the focus and mondeo cambelt kits is quite a bit, do you think they are different belt kits or just a scam to get more money from the st owner?? lol thanks

It's a nice car, and it's rather cheap. Especially considering it's checked out and you get warranty. The cheapest I can find locally is an 07 with 75k and they're asking for almost 7k. Plus no warranty.
