Coach washijo is being harsh, because he experienced first handed how hard it is to be short and wants to play volleyball. He knows that greater the ambitions, it will be harder for that kid. So he is just giving him taste of what he will face in real life.

just my opinion as a guy that have played sport alot. letting him play would be disrespectfull for the people that actually got selected and for the people that didnt get selected

Agreed. At the end of the day, Hinata wasn't selected and that's that. No one should pity him. Instead, his learning progress should be observed.

Exactly! It's really disrespectful to the other players if the coach let him play cause every one trying so hard to be chosen too. If Washijo let Hinata play in the camp it's gonna make all ambition of other players go worthless.

In fairness to Shiratorizawa's coach, at this point in the series, Hinata is only good at jumping high, because even his spikes depend on Kageyama. Being so, Hinata would never become a starter in any team, being the way he is now, he would be a worthless player in any team that is not Kageyama. That's why Shiratorizawa's coach tells him that he doesn't see any value in it and why Ushishima asks him what he's doing. They don't do it out of being mean or out of resentment.

If Hinata where to join the training camp, he would only be doing the same stuff he always do... Jump and Hit the ball as high and quick as possible... The coach is basically making him open up his eyes, observe and listen more to what happens in the court, and making him starts to think more about what else he can do on the court... This training arc for Hinata was the best thing he could have before the tournament...

Other teams wouldn't let hinata be a starter his fundamentals are terrible Kageyama being the setter and the fact that Karasuno is a small team are the only reasons hinata has a starting position

They really setup the coach as an antagonist here when we are watching from Hinata's POV, since we see the potential/talent and hardwork he has put in already. From a 3rd party though, hes played 1 tournament and dosnt have any of the natural gifts or years of volleyball play the others have. Thinking about it realistically you'd probably get suspended irl for crashing a camp like this too 😂

Yeah, like Noya got suspended from club activities for telling the vice principal to shut up, and breaking a vase, but Hinata went to another school without telling anyone, crashed an invite only event and then didn't regret and go home but stayed (he was offered a condition but at the same time, if I saw them calling my advisor and coach I would be going back immediately) and didn't get suspended?

i think shiratorizawa coach just being fair, he has his idea and concepts, he picked the players, so if someone who doesn't get invited come, i think i will do the same 😂

It's true that in modern Volleyball, height isn't everything, you also need a good fondation, which Hinata is lacking, so he is short with bad basics, why should the coach let him play.

Yeah the main problem is that the series doesn't make enough emphasis on the fact that Hinata sucks. That's why almost everyone ends up confused in this arc.

Exactly, To me Hinata now is just a short player who can jump high, has super speed, and a good instinct but everything more than that he's suck, He only good in term of using his body but don't have enough skill play. In my opinion volleyball really use so much skill especially when you short.

the reason why Coach Washijou is really hard on hinata is because he sees himself in him, coach washijo is just like hinata back in his youth days but just like every coach says volleyball is game for tall players. that's why he gave up on competing in pro volleyball or rather say he wasn't able to compete pro volleyball because his small even thought his passion for volleyball is so strong. that's why when he became a coach he only seeks height and power like ushijima wakatoshi or someone who's a genius like kageyama tobio.

when washijou was really hard yelling with tsutomu in season 3 leon said something like "he is just yelling most with you bc he expects more of you" and i thing this totally relate when washijou yell with hinata in this episode.

You're obviously not watching the same show as the rest of us. Jealousy has absolutely nothing to do with it. He wants to improve, and his team is only using him as an offensive weapon. The one other time he wanted to improve it took Grandpa Ukai to knock some sense into the coach to let him. If he is as terrible as you say, why even let him on the team? Hinata has been steadily improving without help. Imagine if anyone in this series actually took the time to teach him.

I'm gonna put this here because we are seeing in the eyes of hinata we are more aware that being small is not detrimental to playing volleyball, but realistically speaking most of the time in volleyball even if your just tall and doesn't have the experience, you can still be pick since whether we agree or not, volleyball is a sport where tall players dominate the game, hell look at me back in middle school I got pick just because I'm tall in the tryouts and not the other players where they are more skilled than me but doesn't have the height. Plus I'm sure the others already mentioned, but the coach is technically right, at this point all hinata do is train to hit the ball, even the season 1 episode 2 where hinata trains to receive the ball but in the end, is just to let Kageyama set him so he can spike, we have never seen him practice receiving or even serving, so if you didn't notice whenever hinata gets the first touch it's always him getting hit in the face, instead of receiving it most of the time, so the coach is basically saying "your good because you spike, but the reason you spike good is because of the setter, outside of that what other abilities do you have?"

if wasijo let hinata play, then he should let the entire miyagi perfectur play there and not choose some but everyone. the logic of choosing someone tall is you cant learn to be tall but you can learn to be good, tall is an advantage you cant learn.

No, at this point Hinata is terrible at literally everything other than super quick attacks. He's bad a serving, bad at receiving, usually gets blocked if it's not really fast. Why should any coach let him play the way he is? Especially since he showed up uninvited at a training camp. No matter his feelings about his height, the coach should definitely not let him play. Don't reward him for acting this way. As for berating him while he's being ball boy, that's because he's even doing that bad right now.
