I'm so sorry you went through this! Your story is a great reminder for healthcare workers of how important compassion is for patients. I'm actually in school for a healthcare profession (Occupational Therapy Assistant) and was drawn to it because I want to help people physically, mentally & emotionally.

I’m on day 8 of my tonsillectomy. I’ve been searching for stories about it because I didn’t really know what I was in for when I had it done. It’s been awful even without complications. So I can’t imagine the horror you went through… I’m glad you’re alive and that you’re well. I’m so sorry it gave you ptsd. But it’s great that you’ve worked through it. All the best, from Chicago ❤

Hi lovely, I was the same as you! Sat searching for stories when I was recovering to see what the pain I was experiencing normal and yes - it is! Even without the complications it’s still horrendous! Just know that there is light at the end of the tunnel! And come day 14, you’ll start feeling a little more normal and things will start getting easier! Stay strong - you’re doing amazing 💕 also, constantly sipping on water is really helps and setting alarms throughout the night to wake up and takes pain meds every few hours is SO crucial!! I didn’t do this the first week and it really made it 100% worse!

@@alananoelle Thank you for all your advice! I will take what I can! I can’t wait to eat a hamburger when this is over lol. 😆 There’s a light at the end, yes. Thanks for the reminder.

@@bhushankengar4382 Day 10 was when I finally started to feel better. I hope that you will feel back to yourself sooner than that. A humidifier helped so much! And the meds. If you can rest your voice I recommend that. I didn’t do it and it has taken me longer to fully recover. Still can’t sing but the rest is back to normal for me. Please take care of yourself and feel free to ask anything. 💕

That’s terrifying😢. My friends 5 year old boy died after a tonsillectomy. He bled to death. I can’t imagine how traumatic that must have been. Thank god you survived. XxX

I am 49 years old and on day 12 of recovery from an adult Tonsillectomy adenoidectomy. This has been THE WORST thing I've ever lived through. The recovery is brutal. I wouldn't wish this pain on my worst enemy. If I had known what I was in for, I wouldn't have gone through with it. Even though, I really needed it to be done. I've spent decades walking around feeling like I had COVID. They were killing my immune system. There were so many things being caused by my tonsils. I had no idea. So, I'm glad I got it done and I'm finally starting to turn the corner but man, I never want to go through anything like this again. It's taken such a toll on my body.

I hear you! Had a tonsillectomy earlier this year at age 44 - absolutely awful, one of the most intense, painful, brutal experiences I've ever been through, and I've had several much more 'major' operations in my time. Keep the faith, it does get better - took me until Day 20 or so though, to really feel like I was recovering. @Alana - thank you for sharing your story, it's hard to even imagine what you went through, other level. Glad to hear you are through it and better with therapy.

Had mine out at 27… took over a month to recover. My ENT had been in practice over 40 years and he told me at the first follow up that my tonsils were about the worst he’d ever seen. He told me that when he started cutting, that all this green, yellow, and white cottage cheese infection stuff came out. And that the smell almost knocked out everyone in the OR. Still not sure if I should have been proud or embarrassed. Recovery was the most physically painful thing I’ve ever experienced. It was worth it though, I haven’t had strep or ear infections since.

Hi Alana, I’m so sorry this happened to you and glad to hear you are okay now. If you have a chance to answer, did you find out why you bled? Did the doctor make a mistake when performing the surgery? I’m absolutely terrified of this procedure and think this will happen to me

Unfortunately health care is going down the drain. My child was systemically neglected and abused by the medical system in the UK when she was chronically ill. We left the country and came to Canada - here they are a lot nicer but still we have major issues.
