@@notyouraveragebear9326 i always thought they should have kept it. I guess they thought having two killers wouldn't surprise anyone, but the dynamic is what makes it interesting. Like Roman is a bitter and enraged little mama's boy with abandonment issues, and Angelina is portrayed as naive but genuinely sweet. Either she was faking her nice personality or she really was a gullible and easily manipulated young actress who is used to being exploited, and would like the Stu to Roman's Billy, except she has even less of her own will. I thought Roman and Angelina deserved to have a stronger killer dynamic, and Angelina definitely didnt deserve to be useless to the overall plot like she was.

Scream 3 is so under appreciated. I love it because it returned to the original theme of how Sidney became our favorite final girl in the first place: “sins of the mother” (similar to Carrie and many other horror themes). For 2 films we watched dozens of people die and watched Sidney survive attack after attack all because of one woman named Maureen that we never even get to meet! It makes you wonder if there really are a bunch of psychos out there, or if her mother really was a dark or dubious character and Sid’s in total denial. Scream 3 finally explained who the hell this dead woman was, and whether she really was the harmless, honest person that Sidney desperately hoped she was. Scream 2 is my least favorite because it only set out to copy the first one and did not deepen our understanding of Sidney at all.
@kalehead00753 жыл бұрын

part 2 deepens the relationship between Gale and Dewey and also put a satisfactory end to the B plot of Cotton being sent in jail by error. The issue people have about part 3 story is that it deepens some stuff yes but lessen some others like Billy being more like a puppet of Roman than a mastermind on its own. I like all movies but 3 is the one who suffered the most, it looks like a mess of a movie and we all know it was. I agree this is good they give the mom more backstory though, I didn't need explanations about her behavior but it was nice seeing her having a bigger role.

I so appreciate this analysis! I've loved each of the films (obviously 😂) for different reasons, but I really appreciated this one for its character development on Maureen's part and for skewering that bastard Weinstein -- not to mention the continued excellence of Sidney, Gale, and Dewey's journeys. I think there's something to be said for Scream 2's exploration of Sidney learning to trust again/ exploring if that's even possible for someone who's been through as much as she has. Even her wearing the necklace in this movie seems like a reminder that everyone isn't bad, and she should trust her instincts about people in an attempt to move forward. Each installment just makes me so excited for the next!

@@mielthesquid6536 I always liked the Roman connection to Billy, Roman didn’t tell Billy what to do, he simply ensured he would be triggered and gave him a few pointers about how to get away with it So everything Billy and stu did was still on them and their initiative, except for the murder of Maureen, but that may have been simply to cause as much pain to Sydney as they could. and if anything we learn that one of the reasons Maureen didn’t want to re-live her life as Rena Reynolds was because she was gang raped by Milton and his friends, and the experience traumatized her and she wanted to forget that life Sydney's comment to Roman is the most powerful and rebukes all of the killers “No one made you kill people you do it because that’s what you are” and the way roman reacts shows that it’s true i also think that this film did a lot more of the symbolic story-telling then the other films such as the ambiguity of several of the scenes of whether it’s real and or Sid hallucinating because of her trauma, the symbolism of leaving the door open at the end to show how Sidney has come to terms with not living in fear etc. etc. was well done.

I always felt like Lance Henriksen's character was probably really Roman's father. Don't even tell me he orchestrated these parties at his mansion, took Maureen into that secret room- where let's be real she wasn't seduced, she was assaulted- and didn't participate. His close creative "mentor" relationship with Roman and the fact that he was probably Roman's entree into the film business always made me think that somehow he either knew for a fact or strongly suspected that Roman was his and Maureen's illegitimate son. Also, Roman's ability to seek out Maureen, Stu and Billy and work on them in Woodsboro for what's presumably a good chunk of time doesn't exactly speak of someone from humble upbringings who has to work for a living, with close family ties- he has financial support and the prospect of a "career" in the film industry through his father. I'm willing to die on this hill, tbh.

Yeah the film actually makes the point that Maureen didn’t want to remember or relive her life as Rena Reynolds because she was gang-raped by Milton and his friends and Roman was most likely the offspring of that hence why she rejected him. And the film also makes the point to put to bed the idea of the sins of the mother when Sydney tells Roman, that no one made him kill, he did so because he chose to and that’s he’s nothing more than a simple murderer (this also applies to billy, mrs loomis and etc) Rather than deal with it or move on they allowed hatred, vengeance and bitterness to poison them.

Originally, Scream was intended to be a trilogy. Even back when they had made the first one, that had been the plan. Hence why Randy and the comments he made. It had also been a massive part of the advertising campaign about how it was the final chapter. It also explains why there is only two or three years between the trilogy, and eleven between three and four. Unfortunately, I don't know as to the reason why they changed their minds.

No. Kevin Williamson did sell the studio a rough draft for two more films with the original scream but Randy’s scene was a reaction to fan backlash for killing him in scream 2. They wanted to bring him back to appease the fans but they thought it was too unbelievable, especially with Matthew Lilliard also already signing on to come back from the dead for 3.
@daviewaviee60793 жыл бұрын
Scream 3 is arguably the weakest in the franchise because reasons, but the final act of the film (basically all the mansion stuff) is top-tier. Sidney and Roman did what they could with an *okay* script and really sold the scenes. There was so much bitter sibling rivalry going on, you'd think they were actually related. Also love how Sidney has NEVER fallen into the role of "victim" despite the harrowing things she's faced over and over. *My girl gon step on em each and every time.* Even Laurie Strode had her "Oh shit" moments where she wasn't sure if she'd make it. Sidney has never doubted how far her foot can go up a killer's backside. 🍑🦶🏻 She is ALWAYS ready to open a can of whoop-ass on *WHOMSTEVER!* She not going out like no punk, period. 😭😂😂😂😂😂

This is my favourite Scream of them all! One killer was responsible for all the screams up to this point. Every kill up to his death was because of him. No denying that.
@accio_firewhiskey82562 жыл бұрын
I'm just now realising that casey and cotton both lied to ghost face about being single, showcasing the classic horror movie rule of *"promiscuity leads to death."* as scream is all about horror movie rules. Edit: they both also wore white or very similar colours, that I believe was a coincidence but its Intresting, they both were very blank colours that make you think "here comes the red."

Girl, I was just rewatching your Scream & Halloween reactions last night, and was asking myself, "Should I ask for Scream 3 and Halloween 4, or should I just patient?" It pays to be patient baby lol... The running Indigo Girls joke, the anticipated dragging of Gale's bangs, the "Stacey Merkin" *in my Jenny Shector voice* reference, I love it all... Jennifer is probably one of the best characters in the movie. Dewey is didn't literally stabbed in the back this time. Sydney Prescott continues lives on a Final Girl Greatness. Randy even got a cameo. The tragedy of Maureen Prescott has become even more tragic. Scream 3 isn't my favorite, I was about 10 when I saw this came out and saw it. but I have much more appreciation of this movie as an adult... LOVE the reaction. Can't wait to see what you bring us next...
@AlandaParker3 жыл бұрын

Scream 3 went through a lot of rework because of the columbine shootings. Less blood and the story originally revolved around a cult of people who were obsessed with sidney. Cotton and his girlfriend were supposed to have been murdered at the Hollywood sign! ALSO! The mansion at the end is the same place they used as a school in Halloween H20! The pool in Scream 3 is covered in H20

I love your reaction to this...as usual! I see why most people think this is the worst Scream movie but to me it's like the guilty pleasure movie of the franchise. The scariest bits in it are the Maureen bits IMO and it's actually quite funny at times. I also really love the end scene with Syd and the Roman, you do kinda get sibling vibes from them and to me it makes that fight better and their acting is great.
