Never be ashamed of being kind and having empathy. It doesn't mean you're weak. You are higher evolved than a lot of other people who just take and never give.

"Empathy" There are so many parts that I have hidden and denied and lost There are so many ways that I have cut off my nose to spite my face There are so many colors that I still try to hide while I paint And there are so many tunes that I secretly sing as I wait You come along and invite these parts out of hiding This invitation is the one that I've stopped fighting.... Thank you for seeing me I feel so less lonely Thank you for getting me I'm healed by your empathy Oh this intimacy There were so many times, I thought I'd die not being truly known There've been so many moments: forever lonely in my vocation You come along and celebrate each feeling And there you are all honor and inquiring....... Thank you for seeing me I feel so less lonely Thank you for getting me I'm healed by your empathy Oh this intimacy There was a day where the trust that was being asked of me Required too much you see To accept your generosity And to know myself enough to let you help me Thank you for seeing me I feel so less lonely Thank you for getting me I'm healed by your empathy Oh this intimacy

Alanis Morissette’s album “Havoc and Bright Lights” (2012) was her first after she gave birth to her first child. Motherhood is a major theme, but the tunes she authored for the record explore other elements of her new life. She explained : “The form [of the album] is the motherhood, but the essence of it really is a deepening of intimacy and a deepening of commitment, and therefore there being a lot of healing. I’m healing a lot of wounds from my childhood, and so is my husband, and… that healing definitely shows up in songs like ‘Empathy’ and ‘Lens,’ the whole idea of fostering connection, that horrible feeling of disconnection from God or each other or our own selves. It’s a very hollow, piercing, terrible feeling.” 💜🎼🩷

WOW!... "This is a life of extremes, both sides are enticing, me, the notorious bottom dweller, maybe I am debilitated, I am alone in this meltdown of life, in the anatomy of my crash hitting bottom I could not remember where the prayer started, but I can not stand still and I keep on SMILING, this my surrender if I can bare it, if that is what you call it to the loose recollection of a falling; call it what you want to make yourself comfortable, because I do not even care anymore... there are so many parts that I have hidden, denied and lost, there are so many colours that I still try to hide while I paint, and there are so many tunes that I secretly sing as I wait, but YOU come along to celebrate each feeling of mine... THANK you for getting me, I feel so less lonely, I am healed by your empathy"... Oh!... I LOVE this intimacy...

I wish we could all get the girl/woman back with the live whacky front step move you used to do in one of your older videos. and lets not forget your hand movements. I adored them. Not in a weird way whatsoever. You were so cocky/confident and yet you weren't even close.. Thats who we actually are.. We're human, but as you grew and matured , I guess I did the same. You're still adorable and express so much happiness and why would anyone not want that music in there lives. thank you Alanis.. you're still so adorable coming from a beautiful 52 year old man and you made me feel beautiful with your music..
