Alanis Morissette - Landgraaf / Megaland 27.05.1996 "Pinkpop Festival" (TV) Live & Interview
Alanis had such a fantastic backing band on that tour, amongst others Taylor Hawkins on the drums (now FOO FIGHTERS) !
I've seen Alanis in München at the "Rock im Park"-Festival two days earlier (25.05.1996). That festival had the most diverse Line-Up I've ever seen on a single festival day on one single stage (Olympiastadion Mainstage). The following bands played on that day in this order (almost all of them favorites of me back then):
Rancid
Paradise Lost
Sepultura
Alanis Morissette
Rage Against The Machine
Die Toten Hosen (Co-Headliner)
Sting (Headliner)
All bands were fantastic, even Sting was great and played a lot of old The Police Songs, maybe the younger and harder bands inspired him to put on a great show. Good memories! Unfortunately there are no video recordings of "Rock im Park" 1996, too bad....
If you are a band or their legitimate representant and wish for material to be removed, or if you are the filmer and desire proper credit, please reach out to me via e-mail at oldschoolvhs@gmail.com. I will always respect your wishes.

there are people in 2020 who've never heard of her. she was so enormous back in the mid-late 90s. it doesn't feel like it was that long ago but it was. add approximately 24 years to everyone in that footage. some of those people may be dead by now. we thought '96 was a tumultuous period in history because we didn't see all this subsequent bullshit coming.

@@melissapoore2910 I don’t know if it’s because I was a kid in the 90’s, but the world seems to be so much smaller now. Is the rise of social media platforms to blame? Perhaps international politics in recent years has had a major role? Everybody is connected these days, but I don’t necessarily think it’s had a positive effect. Politically the world seems just as fucked now as it was back in the 30’s. Every nation has something to say about another, borders seem to be bigger than ever. I often find arguments between people from different countries happening here on KZbin, I think we’re much further from global peace now than we were in the 90’s? Maybe things seemed simpler because I was a kid, perhaps not?

Well, you know, every man thinks there is something special about his time. But like Kansas said, all we are is dust in the wind, and like Alanis says, isn't it ironic that things seemed to be crashing down upon us back then and yet here we are in another such time 24 years later. History is cyclical and we do all we can to stay above or below those waves.

I think that here, compared to concerts where she is older, you can really see her exhaustion. There is hardly any interaction with the audience. She said herself that after 6 months, the 18-month tour, she was exhausted. I think she has a lot to thank the Mercury label for, but to burden her like that with an 18-month tour is indecent and brutal. She said herself in 1997 that she had considered not wanting to perform anymore. Which is completely understandable. It's good that she was able to sort everything out for herself after that and continues to give us fantastically beautiful music and lyrics to this day.

Omg she's such a lil ethereal PIXIE! The way she's hopping around doing big childlike pirouettes at the end of "You Learn". God I just love her so much. I just saw her live four days ago (2022) and she is STILL pure MAGIC. Just as amazing. Just as inspirational. Just as pure. 😍

Taylor is the reason I am here in 2022. Aching from the loss and yet still having a tough time believing that he is gone. Thank you, Alanis for helping Taylor make his way to the spotlight. We all would not be hurting so much if we didn't love who Taylor is and what he has given to us all these years. Rest in peace, bro.

I come back here for the band .. Alanis, Taylor, and Navarro together is pure energy and good vibes. Taylor is the reason I started playing the drums when I was a teen. I was lucky enough to meet him not long before he passed. It was at his Chevy Metal gig at the xgames a few years ago... awesome dude just how you'd expect. Very funny guy too .. took his pants off at the end of the foo fighters show I went to at Wrigley field and threw them to some kid and said something along the lines of sorry about all the choad sweat. Luckily he left us with a lot of good stuff to remember him by. Cheers 🍻 🤘

@@RegularDude00 she was huge in the 90s. I was a teenager then so in my mind she’s somebody that everybody should know. Ha! She looked so cool to me. I saw her for the first time in ironic video clip on mtv (I still lived in Poland then), and next day I went to the music store to get the cassette tape and i was listening to her for months non stop after that. When I hear her nowadays, it brings memories when I graduated from HS and moved out to college. This is when I listened to her the most.
