I love Alanis, her jagged little pill album is my all time favorite, all songs have powerfull and meaningfull lyrics for me, i must have listen to it a zillions of times, it helps me also got through, and today, some 25 years later, I still sing ang listen to that album. So many emotions in those songs on that album, it went with my own rage at that time. I shred tears more than once on her song, and during her concert, i have rarely felt so much vibrations, so liberating. Thanks Alanis and thanks for sharing this video.

Oh my.... Every parent needs to listen to this!
@annaf3915 Жыл бұрын
I do... but it's so damn complicated. My 6 year old son gets in trouble at school for refusing to do any work at all even though he understands everything. And I think I resent him for a) making me look like a shit parent because I can't get him to do his homework and b) not feeling the pressure I did when I was his age and c) for making even his behavioral therapist believe that the reason he's failing at school is because he is gifted when I know we checked his IQ before enrolling him in school and its a very normal 99. I think I hate school more as a parent than as a student. And that means something.

@@annaf3915 Any update? Having kind of the opposite problem. Over-achieveing, stressed-out kids I can't seem to make them care a little less about grades.
@annaf39152 ай бұрын
@@deandeck Nothing has changed really. At the moment I try to care less because he flies off the handle whenever I ask him to do any kind of school work and it's affecting our relationship and also his little brother who witnesses all the shouting. I told him if he wants to repeat third grade, it's up to him, I'm done arguing and explaining. That seems to have helped a bit. The other day a friend of his who is more of an anxious type came over for breakfast and was getting really nervous about being late for school. My son still wouldnt hurry up and kept on playing by himself, so I just walked his friend to school and left him behind. I guess his friend and maybe the other kids from school gave him some kind of talk because since then, he insists on going to school by himself and leaves on time. Good old peer pressure... He'll also get tested for ADHD but I don't think that's it. So, you have the opposite problem. Do you know why your kids are so comcerned about school? Are they competitive in all areas or afraid of bad grades?

A friend sent me this song after having had a horrible fight with my mother and it's really touching and reaches my heart. I see my mother depicted in this song, I changed very much just to please her and really I shouldn't. She says it's to help me, but..bringing me down and making me feel the absolute worst isn't going to help. Bringing me to tears isn't helping me. So people Stand up for yourself, I promised myself I would I believe all of you should and love for yourself for who you are!

One of my all time favorite albums. Had a friend that died in a car wreck the Summer this album came out. They played "Mary Jane" at her funeral, which was one of her favorite songs. Can't listen to that song to this day, without getting teary eyed. Alanis' lyrics are so genuine.

i listened to this song as a young girl, kicked out of home at 15, living alone, but trying to be strong, and it really did make me think about things, made me realise i was not the only one who felt that way, and helped me through, its silly to say, but music like this really is food for the soul, and there is no way i could of listened to a justin beiber song and had the same feelings !

Unforunately, a lot of parents do have this attitude . . . . I read somewhere that perfectionists have miserable children, and I think that's true. Perfect just doesn't exist, and people like that are incapable of loving themselves, so how can they love others? And expecting your kids to live out your own childhood dreams even if they don't want to is very deluded and harmful. It makes me think of stage parents who want excellence no matter what but their kids suffer because of it.
