Us Canadian old timers definately remember Alanis before she got big. This song was one of my favourites

Erica Espinosa I always say she was Canada’s Tiffany. I bought her Canada cds as soon as I listened to jagged little pill and loved them. The evolution of alanis. Met her in 99. She’s one of the best!

The early 90s was such a weird/cool transition time from the 80s

Definitely! Im from the netherlands but recently found out this alanis album, and it feels like the missing link that connects the 80s with the 90s. Almost as if she invented the 90s music. Its a weird mix of a young paula abdul, kylie minogue, mariah carey and janet jackson with a hint of prince.

You got a plastic Alanis, in her plastic past... but this song is cool.

Is Alanis doing the second vocal during the "You got a plastic girl" and "You live in a plastic dream" lyrics, as well as the "Tell me what I want, what I wanna hear" refrains?

For some reason, this song and the vocals reminds me of Pizzazz and The Misfits from Jem and the Holograms

Plastic You got a plastic name and a plastic heart, you can play the game, or you'll never start. I'm talking to you. You got a plastic house and a plastic fence, gotta look around, or you'll lose your friends. Am I getting throught? You got a plastic girl in a plastic bed, and she's in your house made of gingerbread, and you're in there too. You got a plastic smile on a plastic face, but it´s underneath, that you can't erase. But what can you do-do-do? Say, love, it's not that hard after all, when everybody does! Say, love,it's gone a tear down the walls, if everybody loves! You live in a plastic dream through a plastic card, but really, you don't disregard. You know that is true. You got a plastic goal in a plastic live, gotta search your soul, gotta make it right. And here's what you do-do-do! Say, love, it's not that hard after all, when everybody does! Say, love,it's gone a tear down the walls, if everybody loves! Wake up in the morning, some aren't sleeping tight, I matter you been ignoring, why can't you just say it?! Will not wait forever, can't you see I'm right? I want you to endeavor, to tell me again and again! Say, love... Say, love, it's not that hard after all, when everybody does! Say, love, it's gone a tear down the walls, if everybody loves! It's not that hard after all, when everybody does! Sa, love, it's gone a tear down the walls, if everybody loves! Tell me what I wanna hear. Tell me what I wanna hear.

Cool instrument at the beginning. What kind is it?

I'm not a fan of how she ignores the past and sells this spiritualized character that criticizes the concept of "celebrity", that was the strategy that made her a superstar and it's very hypocritical. In the end it's all pop and marketing

Great beat but I’m definitely glad she found Rock music as her voice is not fit for this type of music as well lol
@hockeyfan20226 жыл бұрын
She didn't like this part of her career as it was not her as she put it in an interview. Changed management and went to what she wanted.
@SinDuhRella334 жыл бұрын
Ian Campbell I think her biggest regret from this time isn’t the music it’s that she was in a relationship as a teen with management.. (sexual) which has played out for years in her lyrics.

@@hockeyfan2022 Shame on her! She should've kept at pop! I'm proud to be a '90s baby! This album's cover is very vaporwave!
@popmyke972 жыл бұрын
I think this pop sound fits her voice very well but it's the bad personal experience she had back in the day what probably left a trauma in her. Also if you pay attention to the lyrics they are surprisingly sarcastic and mature for a 16-year old girl, much more than just a shallow dance-pop tune.
