I truly miss these original Alanis songs from Canada. I grew up with these songs and will never forget her beautiful soft voice prior to becoming an international smash celebrity with the Jagged Little Pill album release.

Wow!! So different than Jagged Little Pill...but in a good way. Been a huge fan since the 90s. :) Rain, The Time of Your Life, When We Meet Again, and Can't Deny are my favorite pre-JLP songs by Alanis.

I really like this song...it is pretty amazing..even though Alanis did change starting with Jagged Little Pill, she still continued to use similar groove beats like this, such as You Learn, and Would Not Come ( from Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie for those who have never heard that song )

There are a couple little 1/2 second skips in the mp3 rip you posted, but otherwise this is a beautiful song and thanks for posting it.

"Sandcastles In the Sand" from How I Met Your Mother is probably based on this ;)

there are like only 12 comments and that's because MOST are just like me, in my 40's I remember Alanis when she was the anti-establishment girl in the 90's and to hear this...wow! I had heard she did pop stuff but never heard it, are you telling me all that angry white female was just a gimmick is running thru my head right now lol! Wow she fooled me, I have to give it up, she got over on me.
@ChickenPermissionOG7 жыл бұрын
No it was because she was forced to keep her emotions hidden. She has talked about it many times.

What you just said is exactly what I said lol! She sold out in order to get a record deal and then came up with the angry white female gimmick! She clearly came into the game doing pop bullshit to make money or get a deal. She's a sellout, there is no question. Like I said, not many comments because MOST not all but MOST that hear this and are old enough to remember how big she was are thinking "wow she fooled me"

You all realize grunge was a pop movement right? It was mass mainstream. The whole image was a sell. Because everyone was established against the establishment so the establishment sold us the anti-establishment angst. So your fight the power as old as time is a pseudo-intellectual load of ... Well, just enjoy a song whether it's pop or not. For it's merit. Then, you really fight the establishment. B-sides baby. I've always loved a soulful voice. That's what I like about this song. I'll get off my soapbox as soon as you take off those tin foil beats knock-offs you look ridiculous judging the merits of art because of it's commercial value.
