She wrote this song for the movie “City of Angels”. The producer thought it was to dark, so they didn’t include it in the movie

This was intense and impressive. I was a big fan of Alanis in the 90's. Even had a poster of her in my room. She was one of the power women of that time. This version with the orchestra is magical.

At the end when she says she says she needs a moment to deliberate. NO she does not. The end scene with the smoke and falling curtains is saying get the fudge away from me. I love this song. If you've ever been in an abusive relationship you get it totally.

She is confronting a stalker in the song.

This was a hidden track but it was about what we'd now call abuse. An older music producer and she was a teenager/underage and it sounds like he took advantage and he wasn't even single. In her other songs you hear the insults he dealt her too. He later denied he did it and she was not in a good headspace after she had to sing about it a lot. She never named him as far as I know.

Her lyrics are brilliant! I loved her back in the 90s. There is a meme of her and Anthony Kiedis from the Chili Peppers, it's hilarious! It seems like they're the same person😆.

She wrote that song about a grown man who pursued a sexual relationship with her when she was a girl. She evidently loved him too. I think he took her virginity if I remember correctly. She performed it for "City Of Angels" movie. A great fit lyrically for the movie. Blows my mind that they only used it for ending titles.

@truthfultea It was some interview 20 some years ago... in addition to her actually saying it in the song. I believe the guy was her manager or agent--someone involved in her career, anyway--when she was a Canadian pop singer and WELL under 18.

I think the song is about Genesis 6: 1-4 from the bible, the story of the fallen sons of God. They were Angels who fell in love and had sex with human women. They created offspring known as Nephilim who were giants. Their love for human women was highly forbidden by God. They were cast to hell and are known as the fallen sons of God. Her lyrics are subtle but absolutely genius. The song was also originally released on the soundtrack for the movie "City of Angels" which Nicolas Cage played an Angel who fell in love with a woman.

Yours is the best description/comment on the meaning of the song. I will add that this was the reason God flooded the earth to rid it of the nefarious DNA. But, the rainbows after storms are Hid promise He will never do it again!
