That was beautiful... Steven represents all of us when we literally argue for our suffering, we argue for our limitation rather than acknowledge our eternal nature. Suffering is so comfortable it becomes an identity that can't let go... it really is like a death of what is so familiar... It was like he was hanging on for dear life to his limiting story.... so profoundly eye opening....

I am so happy that the questioner here has asked my question for me. Both he and Rupert were equally persistent and that is what makes the session so powerful. When I've been with a teacher I have backed down before I had a true sense of what the teacher was saying to me but that didn't happened here and I am very grateful for that.

@@alanneachell9092 I wish there was someone in my life like Rupert that I could discuss these things with. I struggle probably with fear of letting go.... I believe intellectually and yet the struggle appears as real. Conditioning and identification color my life and yet I know I am more than that!!

What a fantastic conversation - one struggling to see and the other patiently showing the way, while both are inherently fundamentally One. The personal Self having an open genuine conversation with the Universal Self. Arjuna in the midst of the battlefield pausing to ask and listen to Krishna. This conversation is no less a modern succinct version of the Bhagvad Geeta. And then the Blackbird song towards the end such a poignant sensitive backdrop to that space of understanding this conversation creates...Wow!

"Thou hast asked Me concerning the nature of the soul. Know, verily, that the soul is a sign of God, a heavenly gem whose reality the most learned of men hath failed to grasp, and whose mystery no mind, however acute, can ever hope to unravel. It is the first among all created things to declare the excellence of its Creator, the first to recognize His glory, to cleave to His truth, and to bow down in adoration before Him. If it be faithful to God, it will reflect His light, and will, eventually, return unto Him. If it fail, however, in its allegiance to its Creator, it will become a victim to self and passion, and will, in the end, sink in their depths" - Baha'u'llah

Every time the questioner raised the issue of his difficulties in staying present, Rupert said to ignore the clouds and focus on the sky. i relate to the questioner because when i'm so overwhelmed with clouds, i can't see the sky...it's too obscured. meditation becomes a huge struggle because i can't get there...then i look for distractions to keep me from thinking/feeling, followed by guilt for allowing myself to become distracted. this vicious cycle can continue for days/weeks/months. i know it shouldn't be this difficult, but it is for me. so, i ask the same question as the person in this recording..."what can i do?"
@alanneachell9092
@alanneachell9092 6 жыл бұрын
Vee Palaqua. First make sure that you are clear on knowingly being aware of being aware. Then don't wait until you're in difficult circumstances to do this but practice when times are easier. Whenever the reminder comes, honour the reminder by knowingly being aware of being aware.

Yes...thank you. i know it's a process (for some...others seem to have a natural ability), but today i felt present longer and i will keep looking for breaks in the clouds until perhaps i see more sky than clouds.

Vee Palaqua, these perceived difficulties are a great blessing! If they come up just take them as indicators that you have fallen under the spell of Maya, that you are right then believing something which is not true. You believe that you are a body-mind which is existing in a separate objective world. This is where the truth becomes very practical! Just gently remind yourself of your true nature and see through the illusion. Relax and watch all the little tensions in the body. On your forehead between your eyebrows, on your back between your shoulders a.s.o. Than just see that they are not really physical symptoms of a body, but perceptions of circulating energy in your awareness. Now open your eyes and realise that what you thought of as the world is in reality a sensory perception in your mind, in consciousness. Just see that and know that as real. You do not have to find or achieve anything. Let the thoughts and feelings come and watch them disappear again! They are not you and do not tell you anything about you. Do not identify with them and be free of fear and suffering! 😘

@@edzardpiltz6348 Dear Edzard, does Maya refer only to perception (what conventionally mistook as the "outside")? Or does Maya refer to the entire field of perception, sensation, feelings, and thoughts (no "inside", no "outside")? Thank you very much!

You do a remarkable job of finding and presenting superb talks; for that I’m very grateful. I wonder if you might be willing to concurrently post a version of these offerings without the added musical soundtrack; and simply offer a link to a stripped down version below in the additional info sections. Such a version would support my capacity to focus and follow the very rich content Rupert offers. I find that to benefit fully from his offerings requires my full attention. I know that when I addressed this previously with you, you indicated the soundtrack helped to mask external sounds in the environment where you make these talks available to the public; however it seems putting up a version w the music track turned off would allow those of us in different circumstances to avail ourselves of a choice. Thank you for all that you do in sharing these teachings/no teachings; and I thank you for considering my request. In gratitude, achille

Ok I understand. Everything is consciousness, or awareness. Everything happens in the same place. I’ve never been somewhere else. All of this is clear. But why are we, consciousness so caught up in thought? What is this whole confusing “thing” in consciousness? What is happening? I see what Rupert says. But why doesn’t most of us know this? Seriously what is happening
@alanneachell9092

If we recognise ourselves as awareness in direct experience then the question of troublesome thought falls away. Thought is an appearance of awareness and has no independent nature and so has no power other than the belief that it has power.

Alan Neachell Also that is very understood🙏🏼 but one question always remain.. why don’t we recognize already? What is the illusion coming from.. Stephen, stop being angry. The Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him had a man who used to ask him for knowledge. Each time the Prophet said be less angry. Your frustration between the object and true self is vibration from anger which invites thought. Thought as you may know is also from matter. You jihad (struggle) is between matter and your timeless self. In timeless self once you truly abide in it you can live as you please. Some people in that state have lives hundreds of years within the scope of minutes. You seem to be constantly measuring and that’s related to time.
