No, the x20 wont blowout, the guys behind the product are real experts and, as a fact, making a bluetooth battery powered speaker is not sci-fi in 2024. Its a great product for a much lower price that will make people rethink about spending much more on a JBL!

If you’ve just purchased the X20, they’re going to show an available firmware update. It’ll read 2.4.2. Don’t install this update. When I first got mine, I adjusted the 10 band EQ with bass boost off, & had it sounding really good. The bass was smooth, the mids were crystal clear & detailed, with smooth sounding highs. After installing the update, the sound was somewhat dull,flat, & almost muddy sounding. I used same phone, same music, same music app, & the exact same EQ setting.

I wasn't familiar with "W-king" until recently, (living under a rock) so got my hands on the ~W-king D9-1 and I've decided its a brand worth investing my time in. I'm in process of getting the t9 pro , but after the that , its gotta be the W-king X20! and I've noticed with each release since the W-king "D9-1" model they've gotten better as a brand and each speaker release has gotten better. thanks for doing what you do! your videos couldn't keep me more interested in the process! from product review ,to comparisons ,personal opinion, pricing ,tuning, apps, and of course sound tests! ha. ill be seeking this next for sure. This pretty cool. If I recall correctly W-King H10 was quite a beast compared to the BB3 at maximum volume as well. So its neat that with this X20 W-King was able to follow suit on that. It's always more interesting when you review speakers outside of JBL and Sony - being well established you don't expect any surprises from those brands (which I suppose is why many seem to go for them).

what we really want is a true rms and true peak (which is not max) but its just one measure and nobody bothers with standards anymore so its all meaningless really. one reason why i do my own measurements to see how loud in the real world it goes with some sort of standardised method across speakers.

Whelp, I watched this video again and went and bought one of these things but not for music actually. I have been looking for a battery powered bass practice amp and pretty much everything I am finding is just a guitar practice amp rebranded for bass. This seems to go down to 40 hz sorta so I am hoping this can handle a 4 string decently and at least maybe be able to hear the low B on a 6 string enough for practice. This thing is heavy but it would be a LOT easier to lug around than my old 50 Lbs Hartke practice amp and battery powered as well. Watching the results of their "10 band EQ" it almost seems like maybe the DSP only really has a 5 band and they are combining sliders behind the scenes in the app...

Sonova beach... I googled W-King X20 to check the price and nothing showed up. Had to do much digging then I found out it is called the D20 here in thailand (comes with mics and all that bs) and cheapest price here is around 210 usd after conversion. Alan, can you come up with an eq to try flatten the response? You reckon that is possible with the built in eq? Could the eq get you within 2 or 3db max?

Can you tell me if the W-King X20 has latency in its AUX IN, if you connect a musical instrument there, is it possible to play the instrument connected to the AUX IN, without latency? I know that this model already has a LINE IN for Guitar, but I would like to see if the AUX IN works without latency. I've already tried it on JBL and it doesn't work, JBL's AUX IN has a lot of latency and it's impossible to use it to play an instrument.

When I first got mine, I played around with the 10 band EQ & had it sounding really good, with crystal clear mids & smooth sounding highs. Mind you, this was at near max levels. I installed the update & it just didn’t sound the same. It had a dull, flat, & almost muddy sound, in comparison before the update. Same phone, same music, same music app, same EQ as before. Am I the only one that’s experienced this?

@@alanrossreviews OK, i think you didn't noticed it... The Boom 2 had bass issues at low volume, 30% and lower, especialy with bass heavy EDM. The bass came and went uncontrolled...The Boost Upgraded and the old Motion Boom, they have the same problem. But for the Boom2 it's finally fixed and you can also use it for listening at low levels now 👍

nope! pairing two does not give you deeper bass BUT pairing two will go louder so at equivalent loudness two will sound as though they go deeper simply because of more bass boost at lower volume steps.

Hello from Brazil. It's really difficult to choose the best between wking x20 and bombox 3. the maximum volume of both is similar. the bombox in some songs seems to have more quality and detail. but the wking seems to be fuller and maintain more sub-bass at maximum volume. So I think it depends on the listener whether they prefer a little more detail or a little more sub-bass at high volumes. The funny thing is that here in Brazil the bombox 3 is normally sold, but the wking x20 is only imported and then it is MUCH more expensive than a bombox 3 here. Brazil is rubbish.

Hey Alan, love your reviews. I had a question about the soundcore motion boom I own. I 've had it for for 3 years now, and in the last month I have noticed that the left driver distorts when outputting bass. I have tried everything, from changing the EQ, resetting it, even taking apart and seeing if there is dust accumulated but nothing helped. Also the passive radiator in that side seems to be working normally. Do you know if there is anything I can do to fix it or do I have to purchase a new one. I have found unofficial drivers with the same specifications on AliExpress, but I don't know if replacing them is a safe bet. Thanks

replacing should be straightforward if you know what you are doing. sounds like simple wear and tear which is going to happen for a heavily used cheap speaker like these.

Congratulations on your explanations, you are one of the few who knows, that the deep basses are not everything in music, but the quality, fullness and roundness, and above all a speaker that does not tire your ear after 10 minutes, are the most important thing. I watched the video until the end, and I'm of your idea too, I won't try the Sony ult 7 because maybe I'd be disappointed of having spent 400 euros and then having to make the return.!But I can guarantee you one thing, if you can find the motion to get a Sony ult 1, it's stunning! Sound quality is the best ever heard on a bottle-sized speaker. You will be satisfied. And in my opinion even the ult 7 will not be less, however it costs too much. I never understood the logic behind IPX ratings. Meaning if a speaker is rated waterproof then shouldn’t that automatically mean it’s dust proof too?

The dust proof speaker usually have thick fabric that protect outside part (woofer) of the speaker from dust. If it only have waterproof rating, then usually it have metal/plastic grill that dust can still enter the outside part (woofer) of the speaker like partybox or soundcore motion+. That's based on my speaker collection that have ipx7,ipx4 and ip68.

yeah when you open up these ipx7 speakers after giving them a soaking they are still full of water that takes time to dry out. but the drivers are not damaged by it. dustproof is another matter, you cant have any ingress.

Got 2 4s and older sub 3 sounds great, say when compared to a blast the clarity and bass on high gain is something.else. Not seeing many reviews, but just one mini rig on its own doesn't really cut it,so I get why people buy these boom boxes if you like something to dominate your space.
