this peaked my curiousity and i fact checked everything. Yes the sultanate was giving tribute to the emperor of china during the ming dinasty but it is mostly a diplomatic trade and relationship this does not entail that china had sovereignity over palawan and other parts of the Sultan. and The Batanes Islands does not belong to china there are no documented cases or historical cases. There are no Chinese roots in batanes all of them are full blooded pinoys
