I’m so happy Slot talked highly of Ange in his interview. I am sick and tired of pundits, who have never won anything as a manager, always speaking negatively of Ange’s philosophy and tactics. As if they have a clue and are trying to give Ange advice. I’ll listen to another successful managers opinion of Ange over biased media.

@Dugiesrevenge they have more issues than just Rodi injury. The squad has gotten very stale. They haven't brought in many players and they let promising young players go (Palmer). KDB and others are now injury prone. They need a major rebuild. Would you put it past their owners to buy what Pep needs? I'd put money on them competing for the title again next year over Spurs.

Only 10 mins into the video but I had to comment, you're speaking absolute facts Ali. Forster's individual errors were all down to him and nothing to do with Ange. I know pundits are paid to talk nonsense for a living but I'm getting annoyed with them now because they're taking it too far with Ange, they're really going after him and it's bordering on slander of his character IMO. Great vid. At 1-0 up at HT the comms and pundits were slagging off Spurs! Gary Nevillie decided to totally ignore that his team was losing, and spent the rest of the game being very disrespectful of Forster and Postecoglu's tactics. No mention that we had a teenage midfielder at CB. At the end of the game, listening to the so-called experts, it was as if Spurs had been beaten. I stand with Ange 100% I dread going back to the likes of Maureen, Conte and NES. COYS!

Among Solanke’s MANY attributes that are brilliant for us his defensive work at corners is massively underrated. If BA designed his perfect CF in talents, work ethic and attributes he would be Dom. He has been a massive signing for us and I think he’ll convince Levy that we now have a manager who’s judgement can be trusted when it comes to identifying his ideal player at the higher price levels 💙

Thank you for bringing up the Kane Vs Solanke thing, I’ve been saying this from day one. Solanke will hold up the ball and find passes near what Kane did, but the only thing Kane would do would be back on the end of the ball in the box at the end of the play. There will never be an exact Kane replacement, but give Solanke time to evolve his play and it will be as close to replacing Kane as we can get.
@tc-ou2zb
@tc-ou2zb Ай бұрын
I think it is a bit of an insult to Kane to compare him with Solanke. Kane was a legend for us. He scored goals for fun which is what top strikers should be doing. He also held the ball up and brought others into the game (he could also defend). These constant downgrades in key areas of the pitch are why our club will never be consistently successful.

Thanks, Alasdair for the video. I must admit that I have never seen Ange look so happy and animated in a post-match interview as he was on Thursday after the Man U game. I really hope that Forster does not suffer any long-term dip in form because of his mistakes in the game. After all, Bissouma and Sarr both gave away needless penalties against Chelsea. Mistakes happen and everyone needs to move on - us fans included.

You cannot compare Forster’s mistakes to Bissouma and Sarr. That’s totally ridiculous. My eyebrows were raised when we purchased Foster in the first place. However, since he came in to cover, he has done relatively well. But that game was unforgivable. The very same mistake twice in 5 minutes. I’m not an Ange fan, but this game was not down to him. Brilliant, balanced, views as ever Sir Ally. I LOVE the football we’re playing currently, warts and all. I NEVER WANT TO SEE THE TURGID CRAP Moanio & The Poison Dwarf served up played by a Tottenham team EVER AGAIN. Ange “gets” the Spurs ethos. To quote Sir Bill, the GOAT THFC manager: ““It is better to fail aiming high than to succeed aiming low. At Spurs we set our sights very high, so that even failure will have in it an echo of glory”. Young fans should have that on their walls. The best of Ange’s football is “glorious”, the extension of glory. I hope he’s with us for the next 10 years. He’ll get the balance right, given time and his players back. And glory laden trophies will be ours. If not, we’ll have been treated to exciting, scintillating, football in trying 🤍🤍🤍🤍 Thank you for all you do for the Spurs community. Ange changing the club is still a work in progress but it’s coming together. Can’t wait for who the next window brings. Point of fact for me, If the bench and the youngsters can deliver play like this then the future looks good. Archie’s defence instincts in the backline have been impressive, showing how versatile he is ‘mind boggling’ Luke is taking his opportunities and you can see how hungry he is. Dom is one of the hardest and talented strikers in the league. Then to top it off Son is top shelf with a goal for the ages. Thanks Ali.

Loved @deloford's post. We have to vary our game. If the players are tiring, then sending it back to forster does make sense, but only if he moves the play upfield more - if it forces Gray et al. to backtrack in order to play out from the back, that is counterproductive and invites pressure. Then the psychological effect kicks in which in some ways is more tiring than the physical. Why can't the players keep the ball in midfield, move it around there rather than in the danger area... Anyway, watching spurs has always come with a health warning, but it was a rocking night on Thursday. Took my nephew for his first spurs game. He's only 15, but he now has some grey hairs...😆

Hello Ali Gold! Nice one Ali~ Nice one Gold! What a game that was! It's certainly not for the faint of heart. I feared the worst... (fill in Sir Alex's quote). Just a few things you discussed. 1. Son was taking his time to take the corner, Martinez urged him to hurry up. Son reluctantly obliged and then scored from the corner, sending the home crowd into euphoria. 2. Spence played really well again. In my view, his performance in the last two games was much better than Udogie, who seemed desperately needing some rest. 3. Sergio Reguilón recently had his birthday. Was a nice touch from Ange to put him on against Man United, the team he was previously on loan with. 4. Dele Alli left Everton. Wish him well and send him love. Would be great to see him play professionally again. 5. Speaking of Kulu like the Superman, the new Superman movie has a dog in it. Reminds me of Indi. Indi and Super Gold to save Tottenham! lol

Radu had Rasmus Hojlund in his pocket. However, as I said two minutes after Dom scored Reuben Amorim made three changes that altered the way Manu played. He took off Christian Eriksen, Antony and Rasmus Hojlund. He brought on Amad Diallo, Kobbie Mainoo and Joshua Zirkzee. All three were quick and aggressive. It maybe they were tiring but once they were attacked with pace I saw our defence retreat, especially Djed and Archie. I am not saying this led to Fraser Forster making his two errors. But where I sat all the Spurs fans became nervous before Joshua Zirkzee scored. I felt Ange needed to respond. It maybe that Ange knew that but felt he couldn't. It's a problem as Liverpool and Forest attack with pace.

Yeah even on the Telly you could hear our fans crapping themselves once United scored their first......definitely not helpful for our team.

Spot on, pundits just don’t get the overall game plan, when you kick it long it comes straight back and puts your defence under more pressure, with a full squad in the new year we will be very very strong 👍

Unusually I couldn't disagree more strongly, its a complete misunderstanding of the criticism, it is not lazy and nobody is saying lump it back to them all the time. When there is a high press and the momentum has turned what happens (go watch any of our loses including the shocking Chelsea game but also Palace, Ipswich and Bournemouth and more) is we continually give the ball away trying to play it out from the back, again and again. In these scenarios its a tactic used by the very best sides in history to go a bit longer at times (not every time), don't forget we have 3 forwards and they had wing backs pushed up. Here is why this tactic works and often retains possession. 1. It forces the pressing team to rethink whether they can commit everybody forward because you leave big gaps in behind you (especially as Solanke was holding the ball up well and winning his aerial duels). 2. It reduces the risk of giving the ball back to the opposition in the final 3rd, if you have a 3 goal lead and you are finding it hard to retain possession then its better to give it away in their half and get back into the right shape and press higher up the pitch (which we excel at) 3. Gives your forwards more space to pick up the second ball, similar to the first point, when a side is chasing the game there are usually gaps down the channels as those players are pressing far higher up the pitch. 4. Even if they win the header it can go out for a throw or be picked up our midfielders who were constantly winning 50/50s, now we are on the attack again. There is no such thing as keep the ball at all costs, no side in history, including prime Barca has kept the ball for 90 mins, you have to assume on a % basis al players will make mistakes (especially 2nd keepers). Conceding a mistake in your 6 yard box is FAR more problematic than if its in the opposition half. THIS IS CRITICAL. All players make mistakes is not an excuse. I do wish people would stop characterising the debate in such basic terms like you have, of course we want to see the fantastic passing possession based football, but we have to be smarter, momentum does switch, they will bring on fresh legs like Amad who is levels above Anthony, combined with us having no bench, then we will need to dig in and be prepared to concede a bit of control. Those last 2 goals I don't blame Forster at all, the first one was an awful ball from Gray less than a yard from his goal line and Dragusin should have been screaming to clear it as Bruno had closed his space down. But I don't blame either of them, in their heads they can hear RETAIN THE BALL AT ALL COSTS MATE, DONT GO LONG. That is completely wrong, and hopefully this episode will finally start to sink in to the players and Ange that they need to be pragmatic and SENSE the danger, understand the point of the game they are at and understand when to change things up, to give the opposition a different problem. You have to adapt, we don't and we won't win anything playing one way. Ange tried to say he isn't telling them to never go long and that's good to hear, I think they need a refresher session to re-emphasise that. For anyone reading this who is absolutely fuming, just go watch Liverpool this season. We have played far better football but they are a 1000 times more effective at winning football matches than Spurs, thats because they can play Plan A, Plan B, Plan C depending on the match situation and the opposition. They also have a fantastic leader at the back who has that sense for when to change the plan. We don't seem to have anyone on the pitch (bar Kulu) with that spidey sense and leadership qualities. I am ready for all the hate replies but look all we all want is more success, and I 100% want Ange to succeed but its not rocket science that playing with this ludicrous PLAN A OR THE HIGHWAY philosophy will get us nowhere.

Are you not entertained? NO I AM NOT. Pathetic, going toe to toe with Liverpool 5 upfront, leaving your defence to be slaughtered. Embarassing, it could have been 10.. but Im guessing we will hear it was all down to 6 individual mistakes and injuries and nothing to do with ridiculous tactical naivety? 🤦‍♂️

It makes me laugh when Carragher and Jamie pass on their words of wisdom on tv as if they were the oracle for football tactics and coaching. I just hope Ange keeps proving them wrong because he is a maverick and as he keeps stating when questioned ‘it’s who we are mate’

I agree. How would they know? Neither Neville or Carragher have coached successfully. I think they don’t realise that football can be played many ways. The innovation in the game comes when people don’t just do what everyone has done in the past. It basically just comes down to they don’t believe Ange can innovate because he’s Australian, which they see as inferior in football. But arrogance comes before the fall. I think Ange is a very good coach. We will be successful.

Utd played well and gave us a proper game. However we were more clinical and if not for two obvious mistakes by Frasier the score would have been clear. Nothing to do with tactics. The nervousness for the last 15 mins was tiredness, you could see that. Amorim is doing good things at Utd and I consider this to be an important win

Solanke is great - a light version of our all time best striker Kane. His second goal did remind me of Kane too. Solanke was lucky though - MU playing with no defense. Chelsea not great either at the back. We are in s time where there is no Lesley Kings, Rio, Terry, a.. but Van Dijk is a giant - let’s see Solanke against him on Sunday - that is the ultimate test

Love the content as always, I felt Kulu when he’s on the right wing, leaves Porro exposed too many times. Due to the drifting inside and onto the left side. Yes he’s amazing going forward but he needs to work on his defensive responsibilities too. COYS

2nd top scorers in EPL and yet top scorer is only 9th. I don't know if this is normal, but it looks like players from every position on the pitch have scored (except GK). It also feels like any player on the pitch is as likely to score as any other. Exciting team for sure. Those silly mistakes have been rare this season. Forster is a bit short of game time so going through a similar process as Vicario last season. Unfortunate, but he's done well other than those two moments. I didn't rate Dragusin until his recent run - he'll do fine. Nor did I rate Archie as a full-back, but he was flawless as centre-back. Our defence actually looked rock solid other than those two Forster mistakes and we appear to have a complete back-up set now.

Credit to Djed for stepping up, but him playing so well makes me realize how much almost every player has gotten better under Ange. The ones you can’t always see right now have mostly played a RIDICULOUS amount of fixtures this season. Porro has 4 more appearances this year than Trent AA… we simply need to find a way to get healthy. Spence is showing the team’s spirit with fresh legs, but not all of our guys have that right now and we need to back them! Coys!
