In france, the sour cream is called crème fraîche ... I did my food shopping today for the next 2 weeks, it's amazing how the prices went up again. For Xmas and new year we have a korean BBQ which is less expensive that the traditional meals you eat here ( a turkey of 4 pounds costs about 40 euros here, a capon nearly 50 euros ). I was amazed when I saw 800 gr of ground beef at 11 euros. Be blessed and big hugs from france

Hi Jessica and Kodie, I would say you both had a wonderful day of shopping. It’s so fun when there are two of you. I feel the same way when Patty accompanies me. One to push the buggy, and the other to pick up the item. I don’t use sour cream, have never had it. Our weather report for the upcoming Christmas weekend has changed! It was reported that we would get f-f-freezing temps and bad snowfall. For 2 evening reports, they are saying lots of rain and low 50 degrees! Boy, I’ll take it. My electric bill hiked up $60 this past bill….yikes! Another hit to my budget. I guessed $350 on your groceries….only because I follow a couple other families in Alaska, and have watched them at Costco. Today I hit Walmart, got choc. And white chips, choc. And white bark, peppermint candies…..yup, am going to make peppermint bark. Patty. Made the pretzels and Rolos the other day. She doesn’t care for walnuts, so omitted them. Actually she left them in oven too long and Rolos got runny. Boy, they are hard now, but now problem chowing them down. Tomorrow (Tuesday) I will be cooking most of day. Hope I can get lots done. Had to quit around 4 today, knees just couldn’t hold me up any longer. It’s 12:41 a.m., EST, and my knees are still throbbing. It will be awhile before I sleep tonight. Hope all is well with you….I pray for your health, my friend. Much love sent your way, BEV IN MAINE

Hi Bev. Sounds like you have a busy few days baking ahead of you. I hope all your tasty treats turn out really well. 🎅🍬🎄📯👍 I have passed information on to others who may benefit from it as it helped me. For years I have used a magnetic copper bracelet and also taken glucosamine supplements (2000 mg) to ease knee pain. You don't have to use both, but you can, and I do,....as long as you don't have a pacemaker and your doctor says its OK. In the UK both are easily found in health food shops and drug stores... you can order online in the US, I'm sure. The copper bracelets can be researched online...there are many health benefits to wearing them (our great grand parents wore them in Europe). Its cost effective, nonsurgical, homeopathic remedies...try for 2-3 months....if it works, GREAT, but with all things homeopathic, it doesn't always work for everyone. I will always try to share this info to help someone who is living with pain. Have a wonderful Christmas , Happy Holidays 🎄 😊 ❤ God Bless and take care. Paula 🇬🇧 PS . If I can help with any questions please ask and I'll do all I can to answer for you. 💖

Merry Christmas shopping to you! That was fun! Due to physical limitations, beyond my control, these days I am shopping from my home, even groceries. But I still get’er done!! So being out in the hustle and bustle with you was appreciated by this old goat! Today is the day I call it done…..even if it isn’t!! After our housekeeper leaves tomorrow, I want only soft Christmas music playing through the house and the smell of mulled wine coming from a crockpot!! Fingers crossed, we are expecting a Christmas storm starting 12-23! We are celebrating with our children and grandchildren that day, 2 hours away!! My motto is: if it doesn’t kill us, it will just make us stronger!! Love you and see you in our next visit!! 😘❤️🎄🤶 Momma G

Thank you. We try and stay on a very tight Christmas budget. We have done it for a long time. This year was the first time in over 10 years we increased the budget. Only because I couldn’t get a basic one item for the old budget. The kids truly just get 1 pajamas, 1 bigger item and a few things in the stocking. That’s it. I get Aaron 1 thing and he gets me 1 thing. That’s all.

Hi Jessica, Kodie and sweet family! I know how crazy it is shopping right now. I went today and I’m taking my brother tomorrow. My brother is disabled. I wish I could go shopping with my momma again, she is 82 and just not able to go much anymore. I figured about $350.00 for Costco, everything is so expensive anymore. I’m glad you and Kodie had a wonderful ladies dinner together. Olive Garden is my youngest daughter’s favorite restaurant. We go for the delicious soup too. I hope you all have a blessed night and day tomorrow!

Sourcream is gräddfil in Swedish. Often we use Creme Fraiche instead of gräddfil. But for christmas I always use gräddfil when I'm making Senapssill. That's "mustard herring" in translation. It's a pickled herring in a sauce/dressing with gräddfil, mustard, sugar, white vine vinegar, oil, dill (greens not seeds) and finely chopped pickled cucumber. It's my grandma's recipe and it was the only thing me and my ex husband fought about at the divorce. I refused for several years to give him the recipe - but I made him and his new woman a large batch of Senapssill each christmas. 😂 After some years I gave him the recipe and this year we'll spend christmas eve (that's when we celebrate christmas in Sweden) together. We have been blessed with our first grandchild and all of us grandparents will be where Helmer is. His maternal grandparents are also divorced so it might get interesting. 😂 And I'll am tasked to bring...tadaaa... Senapssill! 😂 With gräddfil!

Costco here doesn't have as much as yours does but I still manage to drop around 250-300 per visit..lol. we have sour cream here and it's amazing with so many dishes. 😋 I hope you two enjoyed your day and especially your lovely dinner at Olive garden. My mom, sis, daughter and I love the soup, salad and breadsticks, with a large side of Alfredo for dipping is the best girls day lunch. Produce is crazy priced right now. I got really close on my guess, too. I think yours is a little bit more expensive than here in western Washington, but we have sales tax so at the end of the day it’s very similar. I think your gasoline might be cheaper right now. Fun mother daughter shopping day! Happy upcoming Birthday to Caleb. Congratulations on last night to Wyatt! P.s I am planning on splurging on crab, probably Dungeness, for my Christmas, too. 😀. Being alone, it doesn’t make sense to me to spend all day cooking a large meal that will be wasteful and I can spend less money and treat myself to crab instead. Traditional Hoppin’ John, greens, and cornbread for New Year’s, though 😀.

In the Netherlands we do have sour cream, called zure room but only in like 125ml containers (so very small). I must say with all the food I see the quantities we buy here are muchos smaller but maybe we just shop more often 🙂

5 dozen eggs at walmart in South Ga are $17.49. I bake a lot for customers and had to cut back this year. Customers don't want to pay the price increase. This may be my last year. We call it sour cream here also.

I need to go in Anchorage and do a Costco trip. Been thinking about it but right when you said how busy it was my heart dropped a bit..ha I LOVE Costcos, my fav store. Lucky your daughter still likes to go with you there. Think I burned my girls out on it. They refuse to go with me now. Hope your Azure fruit is okay. On our last order a lot of peoples things froze I guess. Getting too cold on the barges. I will be hoping for the best!

Fun shopping trip! Please- if you find a large beanie/stocking cap for Aaron's larger sized head, will you please share where you get it and the brand? I've been a hairdresser for more than 40 years and I've seen very few that have a noggin as big as mine and I've never found a beanie big enough, so I feel his pain lol, and I have the same problem with sunglasses and goggles too. Your Costco prices are higher than Sam's Club in Dallas on some things, like the tortillas and bread but similar on others. I was shocked at the price you paid for pecans. They are much cheaper by a couple of dollars a pound there than here and they GROW here! Thanks for bringing us along!

I'm pretty sure sour cream is all over the US. I'm a butter snob...lol...Kerry Gold. Sorry, but it is what it is...lol. Hidden gifts? .My brother wanted an expensive pair of tenny-toppers (tennis shoes) and mom bought them. When he opened them Christmas Day the bottoms were dirty.....Scott (my brother) had carefully pulled back the tape and had been wearing them everyday for two weeks! Christmas Eve he got up in the middle of the night and put the shoes back in the box. My mom was fit to be tied...she was cussing and a whole lot more on that Christmas morning...she told him she was going to take them back to the store....he smiled and said you can't- they've been worn...Kid never knew when to keep his mouth shut...He got an arse whooping that Christmas Day...lol
