When you mentioned there was something abt the bulk burger meat you couldn't tolerate, it is because there is a protein additive to make the meat 'stretch' further. We raise our own beef (we are blessed) and when I took one of our beefs to the butcher the manager and I got to talking and she told me a salesman came in and was happy to announce she could double her profit by simply adding a protein that mimics the taste of beef...she ran him out of the shop.

Omg!!! This seriously makes me sick. It happened and suddenly each member of the family at different times was like I can’t eat that. Started Aaron and Kodie then me and now the boys are like what’s wrong with the meat. But we switched to organic grass feed and no one has any issue. It’s honestly so bad!

I wonder if we would see an ingredient list on ground meat? Our food system is so broken! Thanks for sharing this information
@christiepyle7516 Жыл бұрын
@Denise Scull , no, there won't be anything listed. Just look at our table salt; it has aluminum in it, but it is not listed on the box. They are now injecting beef and pork with mRNA vaccine; why? Baking powder has aluminum, as does the deodorants we use. Personally, we live in a scary world, and we're all slowly being put to death by the foods, and food-like, products we eat. I'm trying to go clean as possible when it comes to buying food. If there's a particular food we like, I always look for a copycat recipe and make it myself. The preservatives are what I feel is causing all the mental/ behavior issues in our society. I am a medical coder, and the charts I code are surreal when it comes to mental illness.
@denisescull4227 Жыл бұрын
@@christiepyle7516 I recently was shocked to learn about the aluminum in baking powder and antiperspirant. But table salt!? My mother-in-law was a medical coder for the army back in the '70's and '80's. Some of the things she mentioned was shocking, I bet it's even moreso now. Thanks for sharing

I love your shopping hauls! Yes, the prices are higher but then you live in Alaska!! I am in Chicago and we are noticing price hikes on many of the products we normally buy each month. We are discussing another no spend month at our house, just fresh produce and milk and bread-if we do not bake it ourselves. We save so much when we are mindful of spending instead of just going with the flow. Not only do we save money but we eat better meals. Meal planning is a wonderful tool that helps us be prepared and aware of what is happening in our pantry and kitchen! 💖

Nice haul. I have been watching some prices come down at Costco, like their bacon and butter, but other things are going up everywhere. I am to the point i only buy sale items where ever i go, and when on sale i buy an extra one or two to hold me until it goes on sale again. Your costco card is worth the extra 40. We don't buy much anymore and we still get a good return every year. Combined with the Costco credit card we got over 400 back this year. We only use the Costco credit card at Costco and pay it off monthly, but the extra money we get adds up and we don't pay any interest since we pay it off monthly. Every little bit helps.

Jessica, I went back and watched your video again, and I always enjoy your hauls. I know everyone lives life differently, but have you thought about making your own mayo? With all the eggs you get, it only makes sense. Also, make your own HVRanch dry dressing mix. It's SO much better than the dry mix in the container! (No preservatives either!) Head Country is an amazing BBQ sauce and my family favorite that I make homemade and can it up and have on hand. There's so many options! When I go to the store, I ask myself if I can make the foods we love without the preservatives, and make it better for us. Most of the time I do find a copycat recipe. It saves us a ton of money, and it feels good knowing I can go months without ever shopping for groceries. (I've done the pantry challenge with Jessica at Three Rivers Homestead!!) Keep up the great hauls, and the videos. I enjoy seeing how life is in Alaska...

I do order on-line however there is alot that is not available to ship including but not limited to bakery, fresh meats or fresh produce 🥺 It's not you, every trip to my grocery store I am well aware of the continued rise in cost of goods. Although I only feed two these days, I also make three meals a day from scratch and with a full freezer and pantry it's easy to spend $500.00+ a month.

I’m like you only feeding the two of us and everything is made by scratch, I couldn’t believe when hubby went to local Loblaws the other day and a 6pack of paper towels $21.99!!!!! I said heck NO!!! I looked online and I can get more then twice that from Amazon delivered to my door! What’s wrong with this world? Are people just buying what they normally do and not realizing the prices or not understanding why their grocery bills are soooo much higher? For that price we will go back to using rags like we used to before papertowels ever existed. That’s what we used our old clothes for. We would tear up old bedding and pillow cases. I think a lot of things we are going to have to revert back to. I know my mom would never ever ever buy food with a credit card. She would say if we don’t have the money to buy it we don’t get it. I wonder if people started doing that how many fewer boxes of sodas and junk processed foods would be in the carts? So many boxes of stuff that I wouldn’t even consider food it certainly doesn’t have much nutritional value sometimes I think they would be better off eating the cardboard then what’s in them! Anyway it’s a sad place these days. I’ve begun canning when I find anything fresh on sale. I know what’s going in the can and the state it was in prior. I trust my methods much better then a “company “.

Honest to goodness I don’t know how you got out for less then $1,000!! I find any time we got it’s around that amount and I’ve been sooo shocked. But like you I think some of the prices are insane! $8.99 or $6.99 for a salad that you would be hard pressed to stretch for four adults! And cucumbers?! I’ve been growing my own lettuce, now cucumbers and cherry tomatoes and sweet peppers indoors because I can’t pay what they want and they aren’t wonderful and fresh most of the time they lack nutrients because they have been in those vacuum sealed plastic bags so oxygen can’t penetrate to keep them looking nice but seriously how much actual nutrition can possibly be left in them? Anyway it’s pitiful and I’m with you on that ground beef what the heck is in it?! Whatever it is it bulks it up so soooo much water comes out of it when you try to pan fry it and you just cannot “brown” the meat! It’s more like boiled beef. I’ve poured off the excess water which can be several litres of water out of one of those big packages so truly we are paying for water not beef at all. There is some sort of additive in it and it’s sure not the blood that used to be in ground beef. I think they are doing the same with their ground pork as well. So I definitely won’t be buying any “bulk” meat like that. I used to buy my meat from a butcher and I knew what I was getting and the ground beef was red and just beautifully ground not this light pink substitute stuff that they are putting in packages today. This butcher would grind up stew meat right in front of you and if you wanted it leaner he would do that. He was awesome and you sure can’t get that anywhere these days. I don’t know where people’s integrity has gone because as much as we want to say it’s big bad companies doing this to us at the end of the day it’s us humans doing it to one another. I wouldn’t want to do a job where I couldn’t feel good about it and know I was producing food for my family and wouldn’t give anything less to any other family. I know I know people have to earn a paycheque but what’s your personal integrity worth? I just couldn’t pull on the public some of things that is happening to the food supply these days. It’s scary and sad. God help us all! Anyway I do enjoy your videos you always make me laugh and make me feel like there are others out there like me. Btw I tried buying those buckets your mom got the Wallby (I think that’s the brand) anyway im in Canada and there is a different amazon for us called Amazon.ca so I ordered them and they showed at just around $100 I think you said your mom got them for $65 so I thought okay reasonable difference however I didn’t look close enough and I have since discovered that the gama lids are sold separately and will cost another $85+ !!! Needless to say I tried cancelling the order when hubby told me about it but it was too late so they are to be delivered tomorrow. Lesson learned just because you can get them economical on Amazon in the U.S. doesn’t mean you can in Canada! Make sure your mom opens her box and that the lids are included. I’m shocked that they wouldn’t be! I mean who is going to buy 6buckets for $100?!?!!! Ugh! 🥰🙏🏻🇨🇦❤️

First you are amazing! I wanted to go line but line and be like yes! Exactly! I know what’s wrong with people! I just loved this message! On the buckets hers did come with the lids then a week no lie a week later went to order again and turned around and it didn’t include the lids she had to order them separate she was so up set too! Now I won’t be recommending them anymore! It’s cheaper to buy them almost anywhere else!
