Alaska Energy Training Group: Heat Pump Technology in Alaska

The Alaska Energy Training Group is a quarterly meetup of energy professionals facilitated by REAP's Alaska Network for Energy Education and Employment in partnership with the Denali Commission. The group’s mission is to improve coordination and collaboration in training, troubleshooting, workforce development, and technical assistance programs and investments throughout Alaska. On Sep. 24, 2024, the group discussed heat pump technology with longtime heat pump installer and energy expert Phil Kaluza and EcoSnap founder and CEO Dr. Diana Fisler. A few of the topics discussed were installation and maintenance considerations for cold climates, including lessons learned from last winter's heavy snow load in Seward; innovations in installation technology; and heat pump installation training and incentives.
