I am what is called a “single wife” raising 3 boys half the year because my husband works in the mines in Juneau. We all live differently here in Alaska but we all use our resources that this state provides❤

Good Morning Hamm Family ❤️ Hey Lauren. Loved this. So nice to hear from another Alaskan Mom. Will definitely check out her KZbin videos. More interesting truths about Alaska Life. I'm not sure how I'd handle long periods of darkness. Nighttime is my favorite time of day, but I do enjoy a sunshiny day. That furniture store had some nice items, but the sticker shock is real 😲 BTW, I am feeling much better and my voice has made a comeback. Yay 😊 It's a good thing because we're having our annual Family Get-together at the campfire site at my brother-in-love's property just up the road. Some family has already arrived. Warm days. Chilly nights. Perfect. I'm going to watch your newest video, then I have a cake to bake: Italian Cream (Wedding) Cake... my favorite cake. I was going to make a Tres Leche Cake, but it has to be kept chill... not happening around the campfire 🔥 Now, I'm going to enjoy my 2nd cup of Oriental Spice tea and watch your video before I have to get busy. What a nice surprise! It was wonderful to see Jessica! Love the collaboration! Interesting. About stirring the toilet paper - I did not know that. I always used Scott's. Septic safe. Look forward to more collaboration videos. Enjoyed going into Ozarks with you, you weren't kidding when you said they were pricey. Okay now what do you do for crafts? Do you have a Hobby Lobby? Do you crochet? Knit? Maybe a crochet get together, rotate to each others house "1" night a week? Help with the dark days?

Another Alaska channel I started watching was Lewis family vlog. Their Alaska life is different because they live on a small island near Juneau. I have seen them go to IKEA not sure if in Juneau or they go to Seattle a lot to because her mom is there. But they have to go to Juneau once a month to grocery shop and send food home on a barge. That is so unique I couldn’t image having to do that. Love the vlog and love watching Jessica she is so bubbly and giggly and fun.

That was a fun chat. Thanks for including us. I’m not a KZbinr, but raised an Alaskan KZbinr. I would venture to say that kids raised in Alaska (or at least when I was raising my kids there) are more helpful, empathetic and adventurous than most. As Jessica pointed out, it’s the people in Alaska who are willing to lend a hand and help if they can that these kids grew up around - and we all know that children learn what they live.

I live in the northeast. We do get dark early too. Yes it's hard. We are going from 8 hours now to 7 hours or even 6 hours.

Hi Lauren, she seems like a sweet person, so glad you two got together for a visit! I hope her and her Daughter had a fun time in the big city...Olive Garden, yum, I haven't been there in years!!! What an awesome store Ozark is, so many lovely things, but yes, very expensive! I fell in love with that big white Christmas tree it the big colored lights, I'm usually a white light girl, but that was absolutely gorgeous!!! Again, thanks for taking us along, it was fun!!! 🌼

That was fun to watch!! Even though I live in Vancouver WA, we still share some of the same expenses. I was lucky when I bought my car, the owner included winter tires & chains for both sets of tires. Unless we go to the mountains or it hits the 20 degrees or under, snow clothes aren’t needed. We’re the same way when visiting somewhere warmer in the cold months!! We’re the ones looking ridiculous at the Portland airport as we get off the plane in shorts & flip flops. Hawaii’s the same with us about a six hour flight. It’s the cost of where to stay I struggle with!! My daughter’s running the Honolulu Marathon in December!! Unfortunately it’s too expensive for me to go too. It’ll definitely be a lot warmer than here!!

great video! we live in a remote area in central oregon so i understand much of what youre saying except we do get daylight in winter tho its longer than yours it is shorter than say southern california and our summers stay lighter longer too. We cannot have natural gas we must have electric / and or propane.. our costco( and there is only 1 ) its 45 mins away so i typically bring a cooler with me, but cannot buy bulk ice cream etc just in case theres a mishap and we're stuck on the road, say a loose cow, or deer etc ( we donot have bears but we do have deer, coyotes, bobcats, cougars, ) our target , and there is only 1 and its not a huge superstore etc is also 45 mins away....our home alone is 15 miles from the closest set of shops and those are basically limited . BUT its absolutely gorgeous, so....thats the price...We get all the seasons here full force, lots of snow, rain and very hot summers...clothing becomes an issue like for you guys. Our winters do go down to the single digits....but layers! you gotta go outside...the kids, the dogs, even our cat....

WE have electric in my home but my home is heated with oil i know how you feel last month i paid 585.00 for 100 gallons that usually only lasts a month and a half thank God it has come down a bit we are in Massachusetts and in the winter we look forward to going on our Caribbean cruises or Florida to get away from the cold 🙂

Hi enjoyed your vlog, wanted to tell you that I get wild pig or a deer and here in germany we put the meat in buttermilk over night and it takes a lot of the game flavour out and it tenderises the meat, absolutely delicious. Just thought you might want to try it, might not be for you but I love wild game meat but like a bit of that game tast reduced, ok so take care ❤️❤️😘and keep doing what you are doing love it

Hi! We live in west central Minnesota. In winter our kids get on the bus in the dark (7 a.m. pickup) and get home about 4:30. It's dark by 5:15. It's hard.😑
