We have been to Cordova, an awesome place. The ferry ride there was fine, however, the return trip to Valdez at night during a big storm was insane. Very, very rough water for the entire 6-7 hour trip. Talk about 'sea legs' on land!! Broke my wrist while out travelling in a small town few years ago, chose an ambulance to nearest hospital and was given some fentynal for pain. When it kicked in, I talked to EMT about the crazy ride in gulf of Alaska! The Ferry cabinet doors were flapping back and forth, and swaying from one side to another for hours. Glad it was nighttime or definetly would have freaked out at seeing the waves. Haha

Hello Shoestring, around 48 minutes in. I was thinking that little island was perfect... and you say a canoe or kayak would be just what I need to go there. Campfire on the beach and survive off the land and water around you.❤❤❤❤

Nice video Shoestring. I love ferries! I definitely gotta check out this Alaskan one for sure. You mentioned NFLD a few times now. I did that trek twice. Once in November and once in March some years back. It was choppy waters to say the least. Then had to drive a truck for 900kms to St John's in misty foggy weather. I was a zombie when I arrived...lol But the awesome seafood dinners woke me right up. Alaska seems like a similar surreal dream place. Now I know why you've gone there 33 times..

Yeah.I did enjoy the video.I Live in Minnesota but I always enjoyed the north country.Less people makes for a better life I think.During the Vietnam thing they had us going all over on141A's and I would volunteer for Alaska and beyond.Nova Scotia always had bad weather when we R.O.N there but back then in my rough and rowdy days who cared about weather.Well be safe out there and who knows maybe we'll cross paths one day out there in the great open spaces.
