@@KARMAkazeMoto We are such a big country with many different types of terrain, many places for ADV motorcycling. I'm planning to go on a week or 2 long adventure to the centre of Australia soon, but first i want to get the grips with the Himalayan first and get it all broken in. Just waiting for my dealership to order it in and they are going to add the adventure pack (so the RE side panniers and an engine protection bar). I'm pretty keen. Du warst in Zwolle?!

Are winters mild in Anchorage
@KARMAkazeMoto2 жыл бұрын
Compared to AK... sure. Compared to everywhere else in the US... I wouldn't say mild, no. Especially when factoring in the length of winter, not just the temps and snow. An interesting thing I noticed when first moving here in 2008 is that, compared to where I came from in michigan, the winter temps are more tolerable because the air is more dry. And once it snows you'll have that snow all winter long versus melting and freezing and melting and snowing and melting again. I scraped my windshield less often here. It may be colder, but I find it easier to deal with because there's less moisture in the air and everything just looks beautiful covered in sparkling snow and frost all winter long. Where I came from in Michigan most of the winter things were looking dirty and muddy and dead.

Great video thanks. Did the Himalayan go well? Question : what do you guys do in the winter with your bikes. Maybe you could run through your weather riding schedule for the year. We who live in Australia don’t. Have your extreme winter weather😁cheers
@KARMAkazeMoto5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Peter! Sorry I'm just now getting back to this. The Himalayan has been doing great on the highway for me. I don't have any problems. I sometimes push it to its limits, but for the most part cruising within our speed limits (65mph) is great, and I often hang around 75mph. It helps to wear earplugs so I don't hear the engine working so hard at the higher speeds. 😃 In winter my bikes get lined up in the garage along the wall or any way I can fit them and my wife's Jeep at the same time. I don't do any riding at all as the roads have a sheen of ice and small gravel. It's a lethal combination. Good for cars. Terrible for motorcycles. Every couple of weeks I run each bike to keep the carbs clean. Injectors in the case of the Himalayan. I also use fuel stabilizer religiously. Same goes for my generator and other things out at the cabin. If I'm not going to run them for long, especially during winter, I have fuel stabilizer in the tank. Never have a problem come spring. 👍 If my bikes were outside all winter I'd have to make special plans to protect them from rust, condensation, frost, things like that. Cold can be really bad for gaskets too. Old gaskets will sometimes leak after getting really cold and brittle. Keeping the bike in a heated garage is really crucial.
