An airport worker in Wrangell, Alaska operates a special truck as it sprays de-icing fluid on one of Alaska’s famous ‘Milk Run’ planes. He’s got to work quickly to prevent further delay-but carefully so as not to damage the plane.

I'm a lifelong Alaska resident, and I love Alaska Airlines. They have great customer service, great aircraft, great maintenance crews, and much more. I should also point out that there's 3 milk-run routes. Flight 64 is Anchorage-Juneau-Petersburg-Wrangell-Ketchikan-Seattle, flight 62 is Anchorage-Juneau-Sitka-Ketchikan-Seattle, and flight 66 is Anchorage-Cordova-Yakutat-Juneau-Seattle. All the cities are served daily, but it's 3 separate flights.

Man I wish we still had this milk run route, now it's just multiple milk runs they reduce stops via AS 61, 62, 64, 65, 67 for the South east portion. Still a fun route if you're going in the southeast

My dad's a former/retired airliner mechanic and evidently, he's part of the deicing crew as well. because he did mention that one thing that annoys him about the process is that if the runway have to be plowed as well, and if either of the 2 "teams" are late, or have done their part too soon, then both would have to start over.

They can do that in the air. The leading edge is inflatable, breaking the ice built up during flight.

I really hope this airline turned their culture around…. But whenever I see a Clip like this… all I can think is propaganda “look! We deice our planes!!! And it’s very expensive so feel bad for us!”
