The quality of fish and chips here in the UK varies ALOT. Seaside chip shops are generally better due to access to fresh fish. Whitby is supposed to have some of the best in England for that reason. It's a fishing port.
@aubreyheartburn6 жыл бұрын
Christian Buczko Whitby fish and chips are amazing, I've had lots there! Also, Bridlington, further along the coast, is hard to beat. I often go to Bridlington for a day trip when I am craving 'seaside' fish and chips 😊
@mysticpizza026 жыл бұрын
Yes but nothing beats Peterhead for fresh fish, fish and chips up here blows everywhere else out of the water haddock and chips beats cod everytime!
@montynobel78306 жыл бұрын
Haddock is the best. I know they rated fish and chips in Cornwall but a a lot of the fish and chip shop fish in processed in hull and driven down in trucks. Im guessing that its caught a lot further north of hull or even Peterhead. In England you can gat bad fish and chips at the coast and very good ones inland. They are good at the Magpie Cafe in Whitby but are a bit expensive.

When you're back in the UK I'd take you to an amazing place for fish & chips, right at the harbour in Bridlington, the fish is straight off the boat at the harbour and it's amazing. Thanks for another great video hope you're enjoying your break now. safe travels guys.

I was literally just telling my girlfriend about Bridlington fish & chips last night - that's so weird. I haven't been there in maybe 20 years, but I remember it being the best ever. Is it still just as good as it used to be?
@SB-ss1gv6 жыл бұрын
Used to go to The Naked Fish just off the harbour in Brid whenever there....and sit and eat them on the Chucken run. It's changed hands now and i don't know how good the new owners are
@buzzardbrother19116 жыл бұрын
The one we go to is North Bay Fisheries right at the harbour, I think The Naked Fish has closed down now, but there is a really good one called Fish & Chips at 149 (it's on Marton Road) they are excellent. I live on the opposite side of the country to Bridlington literally at the other end of the M62 Motorway, but we've been known to travel all the way to Bridlington just to have some Fish & Chips.

I have to say, your drone work in Alaska was absolutely *breathtaking!* I've always wanted to visit Alaska, particularly for the Midnight Sun festivities, but your wintry trip looks amazing, if very cold. If I ever get to go I will remember your fabulous tip about buying cold weather gear at a second-hand shop. Happy travels, Eric and Allison! I can't wait for the next adventure! P.S. I don't think you've fully exhausted MO as a sight-seeing opportunity. After all, it is where all those wagon trains from the east began their LONG trips to the west, and you haven't shown us any pioneer museums yet.

Basically anywhere in the USA you have to ask for vinegar. When you do get vinegar it is usually white vinegar not the malt vinegar that you get in the UK. In Canada you can get both types of vinegar but if you don't ask for the malt vinegar you get the white vinegar.

Looks like the cod was paniered as we say in Germany. Fine bread crumbs. English Fish and Chips are battered, the Netherlands makes them like the English and I have to say that it is my favorite way. Can be a little oily but always so crisp and the cod so fresh. I get them at a market that on the border by me in Eygelshoven NL.
@calichef19626 жыл бұрын
I'm a chef, and I can say without doubt, those little pieces of cod were definitely battered, NOT breaded.
@fedupnow618596 жыл бұрын
calichef1962 this looks exactly how I make them at home. First flour dusting then egg wash then in paniermehl. Comes out just like these. I have cooked for 50 years and I know what I see. Look up paniermehl.

I immediately thought breadcrumbs too. You can get a bad oily fish & chips in England, depends where you go (London, cough), but if you go to the coast, you'll probably find the best there, although I've had a good one in the North before. The Welsh give it a go but they ruin it with curry sauce! The fish & chips Eric & Allison had in Cornwall looked very good.

It may be the endless adventure but this would be the perfect place to end it. A good place to visit apart from the weather and the food. English fish and chips may comprise the good the bad and the ugly but they would never claim to half an over inflated price, half it, and then serve up a quarter sized childs portion. That pizza was one of those that has you reaching back for the menu so you can compare expectation with reality. Where they really baked in foil trays?..oh dear.

Funny. Just watched several of your videos. English Fish n Chips are the best. Simple. If you have them anywhere else you just have to expect them to be different. They can still be good but they are probably different. I am an English guy who lives in Florida. Best fish n chips here are Captain Ds lol. I have paid $25 for fish n chips elsewhere in Florida and always been disappointed because they are not traditional English style
