what a wild hunt. i’ve hunted the great lakes and in some nasty conditions, but that stuff up there is insane. but those ducks are super beautiful.

Thank you for watching. Yes, just getting to St. Paul Island, and then getting back home is an adventure as Mother Nature pins you down with weather. It's an experience that stays with your for ever.

King Eider population is very healthy for the Alaska coastal routes and provide sought after protein for many of the coastal villages. :-)

Honest question I’ve been dying to know! What do you do with the birds once you have them? They’re absolutely beautiful! Great vid 👍
@AlaskaOutdoorsTV2 жыл бұрын
They are not as tasty as a black duck or a mallard because they can have a fishy taste but the locals consider them a delicacy. Most all sea ducks can be eaten tho serious waterfowl enthusiasts will keep one for taxidermy.

Thank you for watching. 🙌That would be a bonus but no dogs of any kind are allowed on St. Paul Island in any capacity. "The US Secretary of Commerce banned dogs in 1917 “In order to prevent the molestation of the fur-seal and fox herds.” Also, dogs can transmit disease to seals and foxes."
