अलविदा छोटी गाड़ी || We Miss You Narrow Gauge Dholpur || Rajasthan's Last Narrow Gauge Train 😭
The Dholpur Narrow Gauge Railway is a series of narrow gauge rail lines that were built between 1907 and 1916 to connect Dholpur in Rajasthan, India to various neighboring towns and villages. The railway system initially covered a distance of around 100 miles (160 km) and was operated by the British Indian Railway.
The narrow gauge lines were primarily built to transport red stone, goods and agricultural produce such as cotton, wheat, and sugar cane from the rural areas to the cities. It also provided a means of transportation for the local population, especially during the monsoon season when roads became impassable.
Today, (31/03/2023 Last Journey) the Dholpur Narrow Gauge Railway has fallen into disuse and many sections have been abandoned or dismantled. However, efforts are being made to preserve the remaining sections of the railway as a heritage railway, with tourist trains running on some of the routes. The railway provides a glimpse into the history and culture of rural India, as well as offering scenic views of the countryside.
