For example all the set items, or even just green rarity items, will make you look different, some have only minor changes while others may seem like another outfit. In my own opinion the character creator makes up for the lack of armor cosmetics to some extent though.

+TheLazyPeon It's not locked :) You might have the bug where the game changes your refresh-rate and if you got Vsync on (either in game or via Nvidia/AMD control panels), that would do it. ..but it is simply a bug - the game has no framerate lock at all. My i7-6700K + GTX970 gets me above 60 easily, with "high end mode" turned on (Before anyone start ranting about that option; it gives you higher render distance and less pop-ins - I love that!). Might even be shadowplay doing it, if that's set for some framerate.

Just use OBS for recording, if you're gonna be streaming as well anyway - no reason for 2 apps to do what 1 app can do. If you already use Shadowplay, there's a setting for OBS to use the Shadowplay encoder as well (wont get the features of Shadowplay, but it will use the encoder, meaning less strain on your system), with more options for customizability as well.

I mean, Mabinogi was, back in the day, the complete oposite to a "Theme park" MMO, and it had a story and a strong PVE content with multiple dungeons and loot options, and open class system. I don't really think an MMO just for being a Sandbox is justified to not have a good story or engaging and challenging PVE, i think if this game had those things, this could perfectly be the perfect MMO.

Thank you for making this video! I learned a lot about BDO from what you said here. I started playing BDO about a month ago after watching yours and others "top MMO's of 2017" videos. I have been immersed in the world content and as you mentioned, they don't teach new players about how to play the game. It was a nice refresher to see this video and to learn about many facets of the game that I have not explored. Now that I know this, I will spend some time watching the game guides you mentioned because even though I have only had 3 deaths by level 53, I clearly have not mastered my character the way you have in this video. Logan ShadowHeart Not casual, you do need to learn to play it, it's just not worth to do and learn so much in a game and receive so little progression. I feel like if they made purely pvp game it would be better in that aspect and if they made better pve(dungeons/better looking equippable items/removed cash shop/better rng) it would be a better mmo but it does neither. Maybe in a distant future it will be a great mmo.

One important question. I don't want to play this game like a regular MMO. I don't want to do PvP or PvE (beside what's required for my goal) etc etc . I'd like to be a full dedicated trader. Can you do it here? is this game deep enough for this kind of idea? For example ArcheAge has a really dept trading mechanic, is Black Desert at least at the same level? Can it provide enough content ?

+TheDorianTube No you can't, don't believe the BS people will spew. There are level locked areas and you can't trade directly from point A to point B, you have to connect the dots in between (A->C->D etc.) and in order to do that you need to unlock the various villages/cities in between. Once you've unlocked them THEN you have to connect them using a resource called Contribution Points (CP), max is ~300 (I think they increased it recently, not sure you have to check). To call this game a sandbox is a downright lie. You can't just go out and do whatever you want like EVE, Mortal, Albion, DayZ, etc. (true sandbox games). You are restricted not only in levels but also in "knowledge" and "energy" which are directly connected. The more knowledge you gain the higher your max energy is, the more energy you have the more activities you can do. However, the only way to gain knowledge is by talking to the majority of npcs and kill monsters. This all circles back to level locked areas. If you try to do whatever you want you'll see that you have too few CP and energy to do anything, so what does the game force you to do instead? Go grind, then go to each village, then talk to every npc you can, then run back and connect nodes... it's an endless list of objectives that sidetracks you from your main goal which is the direct opposite of a sandbox game. Either way, don't believe everything I say or anyone else for that matter, I encourage you to look up the information online to confirm or disprove anything you see. People who've already bought into the game have been brainwashed by Daum cause they got screwed out of their money, I'd be wary of what they tell you.

My honest review of Black Desert Online: I've played every single MMO I can find. From good old Ultima Online to the mainstream World of Warcraft to Blade & Soul, Wild Star, Archeage, Tera... But Black Desert Online is without a doubt the most premium feeling MMO I have ever played in my life. From the graphics quality, to the animation, to the realism of NPCs. Everything about it feels just awesome. I can't afford to play the NA version just yet but I spent all day yesterday setting up the Japanese version and I love it.

Wow, not being able to choose from a decent number of cosmetics, armor sets and neat clothing is a deal breaker for me. It's just not acceptable in an mmorpg, I need that level of customization. I felt the same initially. But there is so much more in this game than getting armor and fighting things. If you’re into RPing that you have some kind of Profession, check out the life skills. You can cook, trade, fish, produce, train and breed horses. (And some other things I forgot about). You can get your own house that’s actually located in a village, city or rural area. It’s actually IN the world and can walk straight into it. I will want to get a nice outfit at some point. But for now I’m satisfied with being a dedicated horse breeder and trainer!

I was part of the second closed beta. I uninstalled after an hour or two, because it felt SO much like a free-to-play game. UI hurt my eyes, animations felt weird (have you tried climbing something?), and the tutorial was basically this: Black spirit-thingy says: "Hehe! These guys are dumb. Go kill them!" Then you go kill them. Black spirit thingy says: "Good job! Go kill those guys!" On and on, untill you're told to go to a fort and get a quests there from some frustratingly awkward and disgusting characters. Then you do some other weird stuff that was like a skill-tutorial, if I remember correctly. Then you just start parkouring around the place out of boredom. That was my experience, at least.

+David ll Depends on how much you like a game and how your overall experience was. A better margin would be to compare an entertaining evening with your friends or watching an awesome movie in the cinema and relate the costs to it. A regular movie is about 2 hours and costs about 8 euro in my country. By that margin you pay about 4 Euro per Hour. If we relate this on 60 Euro/Dollar PC Games you should get about 15 hours of playtime out of it. There are of course games that grants a lot more but often for the quality of experience. An example is Fallout 4. You can play it for about 200 hours until you saw everything and experienced every encounter possible in the game, which mean the hour of gameplay costs you about 30 cent, but also a lot of stuff feels pretty generic after the 50 hour gameplay mark.

you do realise it pretty much IS a themepark mmo right? a true sandbox is something like EVE online. In this game there are clear scripted objectives for whereever your interest lies. its not as streamlined as for an example world of warcraft, but it is not completely sandbox, not at all

You say the ghillie suit is an excuse... yet you still wear it in PvP combat? So is it an advantage or not? I know it’s an advantage because I’ve seen people 360 and still not figure where they’re being blitzed from so the attacker can get in a few extra shots. In a game where you can blitz kill someone, the ghillie suit is a pretty solid mechanical buff. Small buffs give people the edge when people are basically going to be stuck around the same +15 power wall initially while they hope the Black Spirit doesn’t eat their enhancement stones. You paid for the game, but you’re not continually paying for the game. Yet the game has continuing costs. Those costs will prompt for some more in game buff and mechanic changes for cash and then we’ll see when the cash shop finally reaches that acceptable threshold of ticking people off for selling blatant advantages for cash. Even a .0001% buff is an advantage. It shouldn’t be there, not in a competitive game, but we’re not paying monthly for this game. The glossing over of the cash shop is the same thing people did for Archeage until Trion/XLGames started dropping some real surprises. This should be headed off quickly. I really don’t want another MMO turned to garbage by another Korean company not realizing that even the appearance of P2W can be the difference between a deal breaker and a license to print money..

Don't worry, you don't wear the suit and I'll keep wearing it. We don't have to be desperate. we notice how players react when they're getting blitzed with and without the suit on. There's no tab targeting to save anyone so it's pretty hilarious to watch someone swatting air while multiple ghillies dance around them.

+Lward96 Yeah, it's a first world problem for sure. It's just that their really isn't a whole lot of end game for this thing so the company should probably do what they can nix anything that can make the PvP seem skewed based on the cash shop for the western market. The combination of the suit plus the fact that many of the character models outside of the Berserker looking similar seems to account for when I see people just slamming a chosen target then getting turned around and not being able to reacquire their target.

I hate the fact that you always look the same if you don`t put money into it. It`s fucking stupid. If they have to do it, then atleast give us some options to optimize our clothes in the character creation.... I also hate that the classes are age locked. The male wizzard is always old and the female wizard sounds like she is 11. Fucking annoying. Same goes for tamer, she sounds and looks waaaay to young for my taste...

The russians have their own server (as far as i know) and there are even servers on the europe version that are country specific (german only, french only servers so far) and then there are the russian guys, who play on such servers without speaking the language instead of joining a server for everyone in europe. not only that, they will speak russian all the time and get mad if you ask them to even speak english. they will say things like "i no english speak russian you fuck". and if they fail at something and you want to confront them (like your party died on a boss because of that guy) he will just continue like he did before and don't give a shit about you. it's like a stone learned to play online games. you can talk to it and try to give it advice, but it will be a stone the entire time.

this game was such HUGE let down to me. I really hoped it would kick so much ass.... there are a lot of great things this game offers but the negatives heavily outweigh the positives. that being said i do have roughly 300hrs logged in
