I have my doubts that there will ever be another pianist like him. His playing in the best of Romantic traditions, sharply worked out countervoicing and seemlingly effortless fluency make this an outstanding interpretation in a class of its own. My heart is broken that he passed away two years ago.

I wish that every pianist had this sensitivity and desire to share . . . from the heart, as Friere does so naturally, so skillfully, so passionately! Freire was a consummate artist! THIS is true piano playing! NOT just notes!
