Tanks for telling about your knitting. I live in Midtjylland ( midle of Jutland, Dk) and your way of knitting is different than how I knit. I knit socks, something to a baby boy comming about Christmas and a lovely sweater to my 10 years old grandson. The best of luck with your knitting and trip to Lindisfarne.

Another lovely Stitch episode, thank you Andrew and belated Happy returns of the day for your birthday. I think we all need to set aside time to 'decompress' , have a bit of silence, you are not alone there. Enjoy your time at Lindisfarne, blessings for your time of Quiet and looking forward to episode 10 .

Having a new puppy for the last few months I can relate. I just accidentally left my knitting on the couch and within seconds she turned my ball to a messy hank of…let’s hope I saved it before it got knotted. I used to leave it on the kitchen table and she figured out how to push out the chair so she could climb onto the table and then drag my yarn about her speed racing course. She is an adorable black miniature Staffordshire and we named her Bondi.

Hello Andrew. So nice to have met you at the stitches retreat in September! I have not picked up your gansey squares again, since creating a “design feature” but will eventually. I am currently working on a pair of socks, for one of my grandsons for Christmas, and began the Fragmentation shawl but Stephen West. I won his kit listening to another podcast. Hello to Heidi and the rest of my fellow knitters, and spinners, from September!

LOL, I like to call myself an "introverted hermit", so I get where you're coming from, Andrew, when you say how you can pick up a room full of peoples' energy...it can be so draining! Knitting is the perfect solution to grounding myself. Thanks for sharing your wisdom and peaceful countenance once again...Enjoy your retreat! Love your Dustland sweater :)

Hi Andrew, as a fellow introvert I totally understand how you feel! Most of us have to perform in a extrovert world, but oh the bliss when some quiet space is attained. I make handmade soaps and sell them at my local market in Townsville, Qld, Australia and am knitting colourful scrubbies for sale (face washer size) and display them in a basket amongst the soaps. Not difficult knitting (I do need to knit something more challenging in my quiet time), but a task I can perform at the market and an opportunity for customers to view how they are made. Thank you for another relaxing and wonderful episode. :)

I love knitting groups. I am home alone caring for my mother since 2019. I started knitting in 2021 and now have a zoom knit group weekly which is my main social contact- priceless! Podcasts such as yours are also good company, as I listen today I am sewing the buttons on my 'Baby you're a Star' cardigan for a soon to arrive cousin.

Those kinds of mistakes are just what swear words were invented for, Andrew. I had the same problem this afternoon. I’m crocheting another blanket and I was sure that I was interpreting the instructions correctly, but no. My interpretation was wrong, so that whole row had to come out (easy with crochet) and I did it again. What annoyed me most was that I’d also been following the video and I even got that wrong. That piece you’re doing is beautiful. Makes me wish I could knit in my old age. Best wishes from Brisbane.

Hello Andrew, I'm just catching up on all your podcasts. I really enjoy the time listening. In this ep you talked about messing up the jumper and having to unknit. An awful job. I use Barber Cords. But also did you know that you can put in a 'lifeline'. With the Knit Pro Cables, just above the join you will notice another small hole. When comming up to a complicated pattern section or splitting, you put fine yarn, like sock or fingering, or even fishing line through the hole. Then pull the stitches all the way around the cable. You have now inserted a lifeline. So take it out of the needle leave it hanging, be generous with the amount . Then knit on. If you make a mistake you can easily rip back to the life line, then knit on. After maybe 20 rows pull it out and insert again on the row your up to. You now have a fresh lifeline. Hope this helps.

Lovely to see you Andrew, and greetings from down south in London. I'm an advocate of slow knitting, as I believe is Carlos of Arne and Carlos. In fact I make myself slow my knitting down at times. I did a personality test once at work and I'm a perceptive introvert something or other too. Your podcasts are so calming and soothing and you have such a warm voice. I went to Lindisfarne once, just a brief visit for a few hours but it was August and absolutely heaving with tourists, so I hope it's quieter for you. Looking forward to your next podcast.

Your voice and your wonderful centering message is a lovely retreat for me. Thank you. As someone who had a chance to knit the Advent Mini Sweaters two years ago when they were first released, I can tell you how much commitment it takes to finish them but oh my how delightful it was to bring them out in December last year. A suggestion is to start with just the first four and bring them out for the four Sundays of Advent. At that point you can decide if you want to continue to finish them all eventually. I knit mine in reverse order from #24 back to #1 just to know that once we started using them they would be complete. Wish you a replenishing Autumnal season. Shirley in Seattle

When speaking in public, two tricks : if you can, barefoot on the ground for 20mn before hand to ground yourself to the earth and replenish your electrons and second, imagine yourself in a beautiful bubble of light ( a bit like a soap bubble full of colours but transparent and this should help with the non absorbtion of others energies. Hi from Summerland BC Canada! We have very hot summers here and September is the loveliest month of all. Warm enough to swim in the lake, but cool enough to sleep at night. Greetings from rural Montana, USA! We are finally approaching the days of wool socks, sweaters, cups of tea and projects. The summer has seemed long and hot so I am thankful for the approaching autumn. My latest projects have been 13 felted wool handbags for an upcoming craft bazaar. The old hands are ready for a rest so I will start tablet weaving the handbag straps. I am home most of the time out of necessity as a dementia companion for a family member. I am so very grateful to get out on my own with a fun group of ladies for "Fiber and Coffee" twice a month. That little break is a mental life saver!

I love that you are content with your own unique knitting style. There is not enough contentment in this world. Lindisfarne sounds delightful and I await this episode eagerly. I am a bit of a hermit although I do very much like people so long as I can go back to my cave when I am ready. Being retired and old I do have the luxury of spending a lot of time in my own company. Living in the subtropics I miss the autumn I remember from my childhood in England. I used to really love it, there is so much in the woods and hedgerows to find and such colour everywhere. Enjoy your retreat on Lindisfarne!

Currently knitting socks on size one needles, and a sweater on size 10 1/2. Had to fix a few rows on that myself! Back to the right stitch pattern now. Good to see you and so pleased that your knitting retreat went well. Glad that you were able to just be in the moment rather than rush around with a camera trying to capture the moment! Your words on autumn were really thought provoking. There is something about the darker nights coming in and being able to shut the curtains and close out the world for a while and enjoy some crafting; it’s balm for the soul - unless you’re rectifying a mistake 🙄. I’m not on any wool project at the moment; cross stitching a reproduction sampler from the 1800s. Enjoy Lindisfarne.

Andrew, you explained your need for peace and solitude so beautifully and I can so empathise. I was lucky enough to visit Lindisfarne twice when, as school secretary, I was amongst the staff accompanying Year 7 on a trip there. We also went out on a boat trip to the Farne Islands. I've never experienced the island when it is cut off from the mainland, and I'm sure that makes it an even more special place. I've just finished knitting two Tin Can Knits designs for my granddaughter's 9th birthday - a jumper and a hat. Their designs and pattern writing are first class.

Nice to see you again and good to see the sweater, the yoke is looking so lovely, when the rest comes together it’s going to be worth all the angst lol. I just finished a mini cardigan that I knitted specifically to try out steeking, I’m really pleased with how it worked out and am looking for suitable buttons. Cutting up the front of a sweater with scissors is terrifying tho 😬 Enjoy your retreat at Lindisfarne and remember to look after yourself before you worry about filming. Take care and happy knitting 😁

Thank you for the extra stitch. Hope the pup feels better soon. Our vet recommended adding pumkin to meals for our boy when he was a pup and eating anything abd everything. It helped him. I am tinking back on a ranunculus. Oh, the joy of getting off pattern by just one little stitch. 😂 Take care. You have alot going on. Glad you know when to pull away and center a bit.

Hi: Just wanted to let you know that I enjoyed you today. Sorry I could not post my hats, I was only able to knit 2 but will be making more for charities in in the US. I'm glad you will be getting away soon on a retreat and yes it is good to get away to revive yourself spiritually and emotionally. I'm making the same sweater as you for my brother and it is going slow. I knit for relaxation a lot of times because life can get so busy. Looking forward to seeing you next time you are always enjoyable and your country is beautiful. Enjoy your retreat

Good to see you again. First thing I noticed was all the hats you’ve knit. Wow. That’s fantastic. Looking forward to seeing your quiet place. Sounds wonderful. Prayers for your fur baby to feel better soon. 🙏❤️🧶

I bought some “barber cords” at a craft store by the beading supplies for a fraction of the cost of what you normally find in a knitting shop. Here in the USA I got them at JoAnn Fabrics for about $3 for several yards/meters.

You are just a lovely person. Dougal is adorable, but young and learning. Hope he feels better soon! 🤒 Your Dustland sweater looks great! Well done! 👏🏻 Currently working on a Halloween cowl knit-along and loving it. It's currently 87F here in central Ohio, but there is supposed to be a cold front coming through around the end of the week, and with it the temperatures will drop to more seasonable levels. September and October are magical months, and they're going way too fast. 😢 Please take good care of yourself, and enjoy your retreat. Always a joy to see you. 😊

Love your podcasts- thank you. Glad you've had such a great response to your knitalong - a great cause. I'm sorry I didn't get to send any hats to you but each year I knit as many hats and scarves as I can for a homeless shelter near me. I have a little cafe and craft shop in Cornwall on the beach where I am lucky enough to live. I'm always knitting- its been 48 years 😂 My nan taught me when I was 5. I have a knit n natter group every week where we all get together for a good chinwag, eat cake and drink coffee - any excuse for a get together!!
