Have you ever heard and seen something so beautiful you get tears in your eyes and the hairs on the back of your neck stand up at the same time?....Well, Albannach is it
@diannajohnsen21173 жыл бұрын
First time I was in Edinburgh, coincidently the Fringe Festival was on & while walking down a street was drawn to the sound of the drums & happened upon Albannach. Stayed for the whole performance. There is something primal about their music & the way they play. A video doesn't really do them justice as they are so loud. I love them. Have a couple of their CD's.

Scottish distiller's use peat, and malted barley. Irish whiskey is distilled 3 time's. Scottish usually only twice. Irish whiskey tend's to be a smoother than Scottish Whisky. That and the price difference, the best bottles of Scottish Whisky are far more expensive.

This is pretty awesome. I wish the recorded stuff was more like their live playing. The recorded songs tend to 'background' all that amazing drum work, and push the bagpipes forward as the main sound, which is such a shame. Live, you really get the wildness of those drums, and it is amazing.

There is a difference between a National Heritage and an Ethnic one. Here in the US there are many people who say they are only American, but many who identify themselves as Irish American, Scottish American and so on. I am an Scottish American and can be proud of those Scots who came here to establish this Country such as James Wilson, John Paul Jones and many more. Without these great men this Country would not be here. Thank You Alba!!

From their website: "The Albannach tartan was designed specifically for the band and our fans, to celebrate our love of Scotland. The colours chosen for this tartan represent Scotland, herself: - The bright blue and white are for the Saltire - The muted blue is for the numerous rivers and lochs throughout Scotland - The dark purple is for the heather and the thistle - The olive green is for the rolling hills - The red is for the blood of those who fought for Scotland - The black is for those who died in the name of freedom The threads in the “Saltire” section add up to 13 and the red threads add up to 14… these “Flag and Blood” sections are 1314, the year Robert the Bruce lead at Bannockburn to re-establish Scotland’s independence."
