Thanks for showing some of the good in albany and not all the bad here. We as a community that has a lot of work to do. I was born a raised here so I remember when we were truly the good life city and I think we can become that once again. I think we have wonderful restaurants here that should get some attention. As well as our sports high school, college. We also have one if the best drag strips for the weekend racer here.

I, along with mom and my younger brother, we lived in Albany from 1960 to end of 1963. Mom worked at Turner AFB as a switchboard operator. She was in civil service. What I remember most is the big house she rented that was on Slappy drive. A Piggly Wiggly grocery store was just a few blocks away.

Thank you for taking the time to highlight thr downtown area of Albany, Ga. What is sad is when a post is made personal are always stating their opinionated negative aspect on a place.. Ive lived in Albany majority of my life other then my time "Serving this country" and what I have learned is never to complaint if your not trying to be apart of the CHANGE....We can be the first community that truly comes togetehr and rebuilds itself within... i forget you all are to busy for that. Butbcan make a negative post. We can bring Life back into Albany, Ga.

I lived in Albany Georgia for 42 years and it sucks !!. Only good thing in Albany Georgia, is the flint river. My ashes will be placed in the blue hole on the flint river in baconton Georgia.

You are a brave man , please be very care -ful wandering around Albany. That is such a deadly, dangerous place. There's so much crime, robbery, gangs, drugs, seedy motels, homelessness and gun violence.

Down town has so much potential. Those buildings on Front Street could be painted in pretty colors. The Flint Aquarium could have murals painted all over it from local artists. Make it inviting. It looks like a cave and not appealing. Just my 2 cents

I lived in Albany from 1981-1984 then we moved back to Miami Florida. I was wondering about the schools that I went like; Lincoln Heights 6th grade Center Merry Acres Junior High McIntosh 7th grade Center Albany Junior High Are those schools still around?

Albany Jr high building was sold to Phoebe and the school relocated to the middle of the hood, even worse than ot was. The other schools are still around though, BTW, all albany public schools are failing in the education department, so its gone down.

Phoebe recently demolished Albany Junior High. There was controversy surrounding the demolition and many people protested, some even in court, but Phoebe owns Albany and can do whatever the hell they want - much to the detriment of the community.

I’ve never been to Albany but was looking at the beautiful homes available there until I researched it on KZbin. You made it sound really good but so many people say it’s really bad. I don’t think it’s for me with all the violence going on there and why there is no people walking around? What happened in Albany to be so violent? Are all the jobs, schools, churches boys & girls club etc shut down? Are there any laws or leadership? I’m sure some of the older people are willing to mentor the younger generation to change. You seem happy there, do you experience the negative side like what everyone is saying about Albany.

There are good and bad things about every large town. It’s simple most of the crime I have seen is in crime riden areas. There’s also very nice areas that unfortunately aren’t always talked because people want to focus on the negative. Are there crimes here? Yes, there are, should that change? Of course it should. Do we have people wanting to change that? Yes. We have local civic clubs, we have boys and girls clubs, leaders etc….. we have lots of good here as well, it’s just easier to talk about the bad. We definitely need change but thats not local, that’s everywhere.

My only advice, if you live in Albany, GA, move as far away as possible. It is a poor town. No jobs, high crime and murder capital of America. Look it up. You'd be better off in Compton LA.
