My eyes have been peeled looking for places in York Street I remember from my time in Albany, 32 years ago. It looked familiar but (obviously) different. But when I saw Dylan's Cafe I shouted out "Dylan's!", alarming my cat. My dear friend Jaquie waitressed there part time and I've enjoyed many a veggie burger in the lovely place. SO glad it's still there. My beautiful Mum, Olive, and I travelled to Australia to bring the body of my amazing brother, Dave, home from Perth. He had died during his journey home from the UK after visiting us for my Father's funeral just a month before. It was the saddest of times being in his beloved hometown without him and it engenders many complex emotions to this day; it always will. However, we found friendship and support from his friends and those who new him like I've never encountered- before or since-from an incredible and accepting community. I really thank you for uploading this, letting me get a vicarious view of the town where I stayed for 5 months, but wish had stayed far longer. Honestly, thank you 💕
