Di, India has changed a lot. You might save ₹10 lakh more in the USA, but the cost of living there is also ten times higher than in India. Personally, I’d love to visit the USA on a travel visa, but I can’t imagine living away from my family permanently or even for 15-20 years. There’s no place that feels like home without them.

I have lived in UAE for 25 and moved to USA since past 6 yrs. I am from Delhi . I had to make emergency visit yo India last week. It is as hot as Dubai or Qatar but in India you get baked even with Ac in all bedrooms. Infrastructure is still poor . In most countries there is central cooling everywhere but not in India. There is so much dust and heat that there is no way you can avoid falling sick even if you eat light home cooked meals. Other than my mom and sister I miss nothing abroad.

These people don't know how it is as you get old here in the US and have health issues. Healthcare costs are astronomical as we get older and need more care. They are young and have no problems. Now the latest survey has come across the globe more than 75-80 % of the Indians want to come back to India post 65th year of their life. Even for citizens reaching/getting/availing medical facilities are pathetic as I hear from many. आप तो वापिस आना चाहते है परन्तु आपके बच्चे नहीं। उनका वहां emotional bond नहीं है, दोस्त भी नहीं है। 😊

Very interesting interview and I can relate to some of the information provided (I moved 39 years ago to USA). But back in those times we adjusted to what we had. It wasn’t so much about what we had versus what the new generation has. I also grew up in IIT, and saw life back then and now - the changes are no different in USA than what people living in India experience.

Nice one! Very balanced opinion. It’s important to be clear on the reason why you want to leave or stay. In India, esp. people who cannot leave are jealous, so they try to be sanctimonious and say that we are abandoning our parents. No one understands the agony we suffer of leaving parents and what guilt we carry. Par kuch paane ke liye kuch khona padta hain and what we lose is a good night sleep without feeling guilty about our parents.

Exactly, Only the ones who are closely working with the Americans know the reality. USA has a very high inflation rate and only IT job is what you can rely for monthly income, there are no easy other means of monthly income in the US. I want more young people to leave India and go there and remain stuck 😅😅😅😅😅 You will never ever find Indian Americans active in social media also they do not have much travel stories as we Indians have.

First of all money is not at all a thing or criteria for moving ....its much more to that which can never be obtained in India....... have a peaceful life, good work life balance, zero judgemental environment, clean surrondings and air, negligible involvement of politics in citizens life, things or processes/ tasks dont much easily and in aproper way not need to bribe or cut lines, bring recommendations all have to go through same process, simplicity in life,no show off,no need to buy tonnes of expensive clothes on every ocassion,no need to spend tons of money to impress your neighbours and family relatives, infact less/ simple is more, travel transport roads are awesome, safe environment, non patriarchal societies its common in maximum countries, diverse people coming together to enjoy and learn other cultures take time to understand others.....its still finding joy in simple things in abroad here people not yet made there lives complicated willingly like in India. Silly things like maid nahi hai, cook nahi hai these all overweigh bohot choti cheezey hai yeh.

Good blog. People rushing to US to work as consultant on H1 B visa thru vendors, not an attractive option. I did not come to US like this, but I see others on H1B. They keep waiting for 15-16 years to get green card. Till that time, they keep looking for a new contract every 2 -3 years, work with no leave. They get good money but have to spend lot of money on health care etc. and life is quite uncertain and unstable. Compared to this, you can get a good job in India and can prosper in 10 - 15 years.

Yes, with 1 cr or more salary, Bangalore is so expensive. Yes, you can afford a driver, a full time helper, a full time cook etc etc. But I have a feeling US mein logon ka better lifestyle hoga, driver/cook/nanny woha bhi mil jata hoga sab log itne rich hai US mein. In Bangalore, schools are expensive. Nearly 8 lakhs per annum for primary schools.
