I saw this cat in Rochester NY around 1985, give or take a few years, Me and my girl were the only white people there. The weird part was that 200 really cool blues folks were buying us drinks all night. Met Albert, smoked some weed in the parking lot, I was looking at him like a God and he just played it cool. The one thing I remember about our conversation is that we were talking cars and I drove my fathers 71' Cadillac that night and he said "That's a cool car Man."...Good enough for me.

Kool- Aid The craziest part to me isn’t just the capo; it’s the fact that his guitar is tuned to an open F minor chord. I’ve played for years and have been playing around with slide/open tunings/lap steel since I was a teenager but I’ve never played (nor met anyone else that plays) in Fm. He’s usually got the capo in the 5/6/7 frets so I’m assuming the Fm open tuning gave him the exact feel he wanted. He’s just such a beast of a player.

It all starts with the fingers no ? If you can do it - tell me where you're playing and I'm jumping on a plane! I've heard plenty doing good impressions of BB and Albert King but I ain't ever heard anyone get close to AC's unique sound.

I saw him 5 times one time in Dallas Tx he walked outside the club. I was the first one out the door ALL the rich yuppies were sitting there thinking where did he go. He stood out in the middle of Greenville Ave on a Friday night in the Middle of the Street on the yellow line. There were 5 of us clapping who followed him out. Albert played in Traffic we were all laughing our asses off in the Middle of a busy street. Most people dont realize but Alberts Amp was in the club blasting. But outside his guitar went plink plink plink. It was hilarious!!! People were driving by thinking what is this old black dude doing standing out in the Middle of the street playing a guitar??? Albert was the Best. Rip. Jc. He was ONE of the GREATS!!!

Albert did that same thing at Antone's in Austin in 1985. he walked outside the club just rippin' the night air while the band was swinging their asses off. One night, between sets, they brought out another amp and set it up. We knew we were in for something special. Then Stevie Ray walked on stage and they lifted the roof right off the joint. They played until the cows came home. We never truly appreciated how truly wonderful those times really were. Magical in many ways.
