Excellent. Collins phrasing was and remains unique. This is the first time I've EVER seen anyone do it justice. Thanks Jon

absolutely love this. it's so conversational. like sitting on the back porch bs'ing with friends over a beer. Albert was a master of this.

Cool stuff man...now all you need is a Fender amp turned up to 14...lol Albert was a good friend of mine and I miss him a lot. Albert, Joe Hughes, and Johnny Clyde Copeland all lived in third ward in Houston, Texas at one time. I was lucky enough to get to play with all of them. Super nice people...all three of them. Cheers, Billy

Heyy what model of telecaster did albert colling used .? And what kind of model the person on thise video used?
@aaronbrown04176 жыл бұрын
Ari Gartenlaub i think Albert used a 66 telecaster custom. Which seems odd because they didn't use maple back then... ai mauve it was custom order but he said the guitar had humbucker in it when he bought it. The telecaster the guy is using is a 52 reissue of some sort. Anytime you see a natural finish with a black guard it's a 50 to 54... but since its in such good condition i highly doubt it's a vintage guitar and ous actually a 52 reissue... which is the most popular year

Well done. Best demo of the Ice Man's style I've seen, and you did it in standard tuning. Thanks for posting.
@bmak90764 жыл бұрын
Albert played in a weird Fm tuning. I always wondered why he didn't play in just Em? I tuned up like him with the capo and it is way cool to get a sense of where he was coming from(yet hard to copy). Many say Alberts rhythm style was like an organ. John does an incredible job here in standard tuning, very difficult! John is a wonderful reacher.
@thegreatestdao7 жыл бұрын
John you are the man,! I used to think without fMinor tuning, it would be impossible to do something that Albert can do.

Most challenging lesson I've done to date. .not that the licks are harder. The timing has to be darn near perfect to do it proper. ..this is a great lesson and great performance. ..I may never be able to do it right but I got a lot of juicy licks from it.

Ha ha ha.. Still can't shake those Albert King licks. Its so hard to play like Collins. That's why no one can get gritty and funky like him. None of the new cats ot the are playing anything like Collins or even throwing some of his kicks down. Not even Bonomasa
