- General relativity, or the general theory of relativity, is the geometric theory of gravitation published by Albert Einstein in 1916 and the current description of gravitation in modern physics. General relativity generalizes special relativity and Newton's law of universal gravitation, providing a unified description of gravity as a geometric property of space and time, or spacetime. In particular, the curvature of spacetime is directly related to the energy and momentum of whatever matter and radiation are present. The relation is specified by the Einstein field equations, a system of partial differential equations.
The predictions of general relativity have been confirmed in all observations and experiments to date. Although general relativity is not the only relativistic theory of gravity, it is the simplest theory that is consistent with experimental data. However, unanswered questions remain, the most fundamental being how general relativity can be reconciled with the laws of quantum physics to produce a complete and self-consistent theory of quantum gravity.

I fell asleep last night watching some space video and woke up from a dreamy deep sleep to this woman’s voice, and while I understand some of what she’s talking about, I literally couldn’t separate her voice from my dream and my prior knowledge and came to the conclusion I was likely dead somehow, and now listening to it awake having completely forgotten it until now, i have to say this is one of the weirdest audiobooks ever made.

Space. Time. Gravity. These three things haunt my understanding of the Universe, for they are concepts and not physical things. They are ideas, even thought we wish to "measure" them. The fundamental particles have their place in quantum dynamics. Now I hear that gluons are the profound binding force that is at the root of all things with mass, from which we gain gravity. Let us all think for a while longer, for life is change.
@davidhand9721
@davidhand9721 Жыл бұрын
Gluons are not more profound than spacetime. You can't even conceptualize a binding energy as a mass without relativity. Gluons are massless; the proton is mostly the same as a photon box. At least I think you're referring to the mass of the proton being mostly binding energy. The photon box and mass energy equivalence are much more general concepts that explain _all_ mass, not just the mass of a proton. Nothing has changed.

Two objects exert a force of attraction on one another known as "gravity." Even as the center of the Earth is pulling you toward it (keeping you firmly lodged on the ground), your center of mass is pulling back at the Earth, albeit with much less force. Sir Isaac Newton quantified the gravity between two objects when he formulated his three laws of motion. Yet Newton's laws assume that gravity is an innate force of an object that can act over a distance. Albert Einstein, in his theory of specia

I still disagree with the equivalence principle. I am willing to wager 1 USD that: mitochondria with be effected differently by being on a ship at 10 percent the speed of light (-Hossenfeld calculation) than on earth at 1 earths gravity. The wager is open! i will take any takers! to translate: traveling at 10 percent the speed of light is supposedly "equivalent" to 1 G (earths gravity). my contention is that mitochondria, which are effected by low gravity, will be effected differently in the spaceship rather than on the earth. this will disprove the equivalence principle as acceleration may be a derivative of gravity, but is not gravity, and so, will effect the environment differently down to the quantum level. IN SHORT: the equals sign is not real. its an approximation, and due to group theory, can only be an approximation. this means there are no commutative properties either. Math works the same you just have to replace the equals signs definition with, recognizably similar or translatory rather than "equal".

1G is not supposed to be equal to 10% the speed of light. They're two different concepts entirely - 1G is an acceleration, lightspeed is a velocity. If you were traveling at 10%c at a constant velocity, you're not accelerating and you would just be floating in zero-G. If the spaceship *is* actually accelerating at 1G (at any range of velocities) then the mitochondria would act the same as they do on Earth because the 1G acceleration felt when standing on our planet is literally the same exact thing as accelerating any other way. There's no special property of gravity vs. any other acceleration that would make a difference for the mitochondria. Gravity isn't even directly causing their 1G acceleration on Earth because gravity doesn't cause acceleration at all, it curves spacetime, through which objects always travel in a straight intertial line. This was Einstein's entire point. *Standing still* on earth is when you experience 1G. The ground is pushing up on you with a constant acceleration of 1G, fighting your natural inertial path toward the center of mass, and if the ground weren't there, you'd fall toward the center in zero-G. The actual 'force of gravity' is whatever mechanism causes matter to bend spacetime, via the graviton or whatever. So there's no actual accelerating force of gravity that could possibly make a difference to the mitochondria. In both cases, a solid object is pushing them at 9.8m/s2. Just saying, I don't think you're the one person in 100 years who figured out that Einstein was wrong. The mitochondria thing is a very specific, isolated thing to choose - if the principle were wrong, a million other things wouldn't add up and we'd definitely know. By the way, every time you wrote 'effected' or 'effect' it should have been 'affected/affect'.
